We drove on to Chimney Rock and took the elevator up 26 floors inside the adjacent mountain. It had been closed for service but had just opened again 3 days ago. ... a light snack an hour and a half before landing in Charlotte.
Although everyone tells me I have no ass I am always tortuously reminded of this after about an hour of sitting on airline torture thrones. My butt made sure I attended to every second of this nine and a half hour portion of travel time. Learned to use thing they provide as a “blanket” and “pillow” as rewards judiciously earned after first half of trip but at least one hour ...
... the tour was outside since we were able to see most of the stuff from inside on our own. Dean, at 79 years young, was well versed in what was going on around here. We got to see the race car transporters that move the cars and crew to the various racing venues. He told us that they have two drivers per truck and they drive in five hour shifts, stopping only to get fuel and food. They are getting ready to depart to Michigan for a race next Sunday.
