There was entertainment in the bar. A violinist and a pianist and a MC...not sure why they needed a MC, maybe no English?? They were very good, I wish Sue Ball was here to tell us - because I know they were not symphony caliber but very good musicians, and this job gives them a chance to do what they love. Make a living? Not sure about that...although there are many, many tourists.

We arrived at Dan and Andrea's place yesterday around noon and enjoyed a nice lunch of soup and an Italian pizza at the local (and newly renovated) Italian restaurant a short walk away. Dan and Andrea are both working full time and so we took the afternoon yesterday and this morning to explore around the town. We picked up our VW Golf station wagon this afternoon. They took us to their home in Roermond where we spent a very enjoyable and relaxing day and a half.

The pictures will attest to the beauty of this quaint ...

        Hey guys,

Today is my last day in Germany (off to Miami tomorrow morning 9am) and I have spent most of the day packing. Quite a challenge if you have never really used a trekking backpack before but I kind of managed to get all my stuff in :) The secret seems to be to pack all heavy items close to your back and surround them with medium to light items for optimal balance. Altogether I have taken enough clothes to get ...

... bound Inter City Express to visit Annett. I worked with her at MLIM and though she returned to Germany in 2006, we remained friends. She and her husband Timo met me at the station and we caught up over a very upscale breakfast. Having explained my predicament, Annett and Timo took me to the Frankfurt Weihnachtsmarkt in the shadow of the Rathouse (town hall). I had been here before, and even knew exactly where the Nürnberger Lebkuchen stalls would be. Sure ...
