Moms birthday was yesterday! It was also Halloween, but I'm not sure the people of Düsseldorf were aware. Yesterday we arrived early in the morning after an overnight bus ride on a two deck bus. We searched for breakfast without any luck but we passed a small park and found our hostel easily. The guy at reception was super nice and let us store our bags and told us he could let us check in about an hour early, which meant we only had about 4.5 hours to ...

We found a bakery and had some tea and pastry, wandered around, played in a park a little, and then had real breakfast at a place recommended to us by the front desk guy at the hostel. Ordering ...

... Kuchen (coffee and cake) in the café, and then went our separate ways to go the long journey home!

Overall the course was very useful – I was able to ask lots of questions and iron out lots of things that I was unsure about. I had fun with some new friends and also went to lots of new and interesting places, and even better it was mostly paid for us! A successful few days I think, and has given me lots of ideas for places I want to visit ...
