... idea of driving around quietly in a horse and cart. I think I would adapt to that quite nicely, so asked Jonathan if he fancied trying being Amish for a while. I guess not :-) Finally made it to Columbus, Ohio and our hotel which we booked around the corner from our friends Adam and Diane who live there. Jonathan went to school with Adam in Cayman and I met them when they visited last Christmas. They also flew in for our wedding, so it was ...

We have learned a great deal about rugby and Gaelic football!!! It is insane here when it comes to these sports.

Today is the all Ireland final between rivals Kerry and Dublin. There are over 82000 people at Croke Park and thousands more in the streets and pubs. It is essentially their Super bowl and we are thrilled to be here for ...

... we called Derek to let him know we would be at Polaris soon. He beat us there and was sitting at the bar when we arrived. For supper I got shepherd's pie, Derek had fish and chips and Larry got the pot roast. Derek came to the house for a while and we watched Rick Steves Scotland and then an episode of Vicious - classic British humor with Ian McKellan and Derek Jacobi. Derek went home and we went to bed.

They had a massive house and area outside with a huge swimming pool, but today they had chosen to stay inside. It was a fabulous sunny day but we suppose even elephants get tired of the sunshine sometimes.

John told us a funny story about once, when the Zoo board were having a meeting, they used the elephant house to hold it in. The elephants shut up safely for the night on ...

Our bus to Columbus was due to leave at 1:15 but it was over half an hour late leaving. The bus station served lousy food too in a really depressing cafe so not the best start to our trip leaving Pittsburgh. The driver was quite a grumpy man too and our trip didn't improve when we got to the town of Wheeling and a lady hadn't paid for her oversized bag. Can you believe it took them over an hour to sort it out. So much for hoping we could make some time up!
