We left Arata early due to warnings about construction delays on route 299. We had to be in Chico before 4 for the brewery tour at Sierra Nevada.

The route we took (299) was a great road for the bike, but the construction delays were a bit of a downer. I liked several of the small towns we rode through, especially Weaverville.

We made it to Chico by 1:30 and checked into the hotel to get ready for the tour.

... the place we were meeting Emily for a drink had been closed for renovations so we immediately thought we had no way of contacting her to see where she was. We noticed a note on the door that said "Aaron and Taleesha" on it, so curiously we took it off the door and it was giving directions to a new bar called “Duffy’s” and that’s where she would wait for us, haha. This afternoon is about tiring out the dog, charging all batteries and filling up water for Yosemite- dry camping 6 days. ...

It was fun to wake up to a field, right next to us, full of horses, riders and horse trailers. I must admit that it put my cats' litter box to shame though, lol. But we saw some really beautiful horses.

... We had a meeting, then a plant inspection and they actually ran Bruce's prunes through the pitting machine and bagging line as we were there. His product was rated highly by everyone we spoke to, a real credit to him. After lunch we were taken to 1 of their 10 Dehydrators, where they have 100 tunnels and dry up to 400 ton per day. Interestingly they use all wooden trays (as do all the growers we have ...
