    Shopping for the Big Time

    2nd stop with Zaya was Costco. As it turned out our son ran really late so we had little time to shop on Friday, which was fine. Saturday morning we left and ran to a big box store where they had the $1. bin. We bought out the glow bracelets, glow sticks and bubble guns. Then it was Costco, right when the store opened.

    ... out of LA was fun but once we were on the highway it was amazing, the terrain and the views were lovely - even from the seat of our car we could see that this place was gorgeous!!
    We arrived at Bakersfield in good time although there really isn't much to do around here so we decided to chill out as tomorrow would be the long drive to up the pacific coast highway to monterey!
    We are very much looking forward to this and actually can't wait to get back on the road ...

    ... and made our way to I-15.
    The distance from Las Vegas to the California border was only about 50 miles. On the way, we could see a large mountain range ahead of us, at first difficult to see due to the distance, and hidden by fog, smog or dust. The further we drove, the closer we were to the mountains (duh).

    ... for us; I hope he's not too mad. Patti said he was very lonely. Spain is now just a memory but one that we will not forget soon.

    In retrospect, our Spanish faves are as follows: Cheap, good-tasting wine, Jamon Iberico (uncured Iberian ham), Pintxos (Basque Tapas) which we need these here in Bakersfield, fried Aubergine (eggplant), Cafe con Leche, the Museo del Prado, ...

    ... claret but had some red wine which is what claret is. We got out some glasses which are a little closer to the Downton style rather than the larger ones we normally use and used those for our “claret”. We did drink champagne before dinner and then after dinner just to celebrate for the Downton people.
