... from San Francisco. The trip was more about spending time with family and celebrating D's birthday so we didn't do much to write about. We did visit a few of the local antique shops that were very unique and a local pizza place called Pleasure Pizza that had some local beers that were delicious. I always have to at least see the beach and ocean when we come up so we took a short detour to drive by the ocean one day. It rained most of the time we were there so ...
... eat their own S'mores sandwiches...a perfect way to end a good dinner.
Before heading back to the hotel we took a short drive over to the beach town of Capitola and it reminded me somewhat of our local Laguna Beach due to the rows of neat little shops near the beach...but by the time we got there the fog had rolled in and dropped the temperature quite a bit and it wasn't worth it to get out and walk around...but at least we were able to ...
... a city full of contrasts. There is the 'classy', downtown high street, where the university students hang out (Santa Cruz has a big-ish university), and where there are a lot of upmarket shops and cafes. Then there is the waterfront, with the loud boardwalk, full of young Latin-American families. These two different sides of Santa Cruz, pretty much means it has something to offer everyone!

Juggling the work schedules of 4 of the adults, business trips, trials, arbitrations, summer school and summer camp for the kids, and my mom's volunteer activities, I found coming up with a consensus was almost impossible.
