Our day on the road started at 6:45, with 769 Kms under our belt already, in a very fresh -24 degrees Celsius. Our day entailed four states: Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa including 100 Kms of the worst highway surface conditions either of us have ever endured (yes, even worse than Port Elgin Christmas of 1984 or Grand Forks, ND conference champs of 2006) and there was not even any 'active' weather. ... as a small city rather than big
town. Being at the center of the state, state capital, and largest city in the
state, Des Moines has some of the amenities of a larger city that most cities
of its metro population lack. Overall Andy didn’t think Des Moines was a bad
place but was glad to leave when he had the opportunity to take a job in a
    bigger city.

I timed my visit poorly this time, passing through on a
    Monday, so the local ...

So today we drive to the Ozarks. More specifically Osage Beach. Last year we won a gift certificate for a stay at Robins Resort. We have absolutely nothing planned which is something very new for us. We set the GPS with our destination and off we went.  By a little after 1 we are hungry so we look for something good in Ottumwa. That may be hard to accomplish. Since our love of pubs runs deep we hope for something along ...
