One of the reasons I chose to stay in Brattleboro,Vermont was to check out the southwest corner of new Hampshire! While we were staying in White River Junction, Vermont, we drove across the Connecticut River to the New Hampshire Welcome Center to gather travel information. We had a great visit with the gentleman working behind the desk. He said we must visit the SW corner of New Hampshire, especially Keene, NH! I told him I was planning on exploring that ...

... in class at a competition in California. They also have a very large selection of cheeses from the area and serve several with the wine tasting.

The drive over and back was nice, but we have realized that in this part of the US, a 20 mile drive takes 45 minutes to an hour due to the terrain and the numerous small villages you have to go through, but that adds to the drive.

Tomorrow we head north for St. Johnsbury, VT. ...

... Thank you to all of our dear friends and mentors and guides who supported us both to get to this place. We woke to a shock of less time than we thought together, exchanged gifts (thanks Chris for the perfect pocket knife!) and made our way to Greenfield and parted ways, he to work I to Michigan. After a stop off at Poet Seats Tower to move my body and make prayers I was off on ...

This time the road lead me to the Western part of New Hampshire, an area which I haven't traveled so far. Harrisville was one of these towns, I haven't been in yet.

In the past this area was well known for its paper mills, located on the rivers. Many of those are meanwhile closed down. Due to that development, some of the small towns here appear to be somehow "dead" and empty.

    Have a great weekend!

    Cheers, Ulli

... t bore you with too much words, the pictures will speak for themselves.

I have to admit, I'm a little behind with my blog, I took these pictures already a few days ago. I will try to catch up, since there have been a couple of new trips between these shots and today.

Have a good start in the new week,
    Ulli
