June 27th – Day 54
First stop this morning was Lake
Michigan, the waterfront on Milwaukee side of the lake. Little did we
know a festival was starting sometime today and parking wasn't
exactly crazy yet but it was cordoned off and we decided to head
somewhere else. We encountered a security checkpoint.
“Where are you going?”

... Michigan, past the museum and aquarium and soldier field. They stopped for a bit of a rest half way through and then made their way back. It must have been great because they found out that a Segway is only $7000.00 to buy!! On coming back to the hotel, Mitch took the boys swimming in the hotel pool and we went over to the supermarket and bought a roast chicken, pasta salad and wedges and Ben and jerrys ice cream for tea!! Good restful evening watching family ...

Back to our happenings of the day though, we got up bright and early to take advantage or a fairly empty Tilt 360 at the Hancock Observatory. Getting in just after 9am pretty means no elevator wait and no ticket purchase wait. This was one of the attractions we'd pre-bought tickets so for, so things were pretty quick. A leisurely walk around up top awarded us with stunning morning views of ...
... And then came the cheesecake. It was delicious. I chose the carrot cake one and was so glad I did. Me being the least sweet tooth out of the three of us I was struggling to deal with all the icing, but I then realised that so were the other two and so we had to ask for doggy bags to take the rest home and eat "tomorrow" it was eaten when we got home straight away.. On our walk home we understood why batman/Gotham city was set in Chicago . It's all so gothic and dark and kind of scary! ...
