... 2k so that's something I'll never purchase, but he puts the designs on other items, like mugs, plates, vases, bunting, calendars, cards, tea towels... all beautiful stuff. After we were done at the market, we headed over to Baker Street, where there is a store entirely devoted to The Beatles paraphernalia. We then wandered down Marylebone Street and found some lovely old bookstores, visited Selfridges on Oxford St (that is one very expensive department store) then headed back to the ...

... and got on the train heading to London. Once we got to London it felt like home. It was a good refreshing feeling to be back to an English speaking country and back to something familiar. We knew our way around here. We dropped off our stuff, printed out our boarding passes for our flight and hit the town for some last minute shopping and went out to dinner. On our previous last night in London we ate at San Marcos and had some ...

We walked across the Millennium bridge and enjoyed a coffee at Pret a Manger on our way to Blackfriars. ... steps... OUCH! I was rather nervous at the top, due to the hight but it was so worth it. At one point on the way up (so we weren't yet as high as you could go) we were actually on top of the dome looking down to the floor! The planes seemed ever so close to us at the top too. From there we proceeded to continue the walking theme, including another 193 steps (which I've literally just discovered as I write this, is the equivalent to a ...

Wonderful hotel situated in a perfect position in the heart of london.

    Room and service was excellent.

And the "Weekend Rate" found at the hotel's website also very nice (165 GBP including V.A.T. and breakfast).

    Highly recommended.

AA Gill doesn't know what he is talking about!

Our recent stay at the Kempinski was absolutely wonderful. Having now sampled the vast majority of London 5* hotels, I can say that this is possibly the best.

Having read AA Gill's recent critical review of the hotel's SILK restaurant in the Sunday Times, we were in two minds whether to indulge. We are glad we did.

The ambiance, the service and the food and wine were all absolutely first class and not that expensive.

I have no idea what AA Gill was talking about - I think he must have just got out of bed on the wrong side that morning!

Both the hotel and the restaurant really dererve to succeed - I really do suggest that you give it a try next time you are in town.

    Just simply beautiful...

The hotel is simly beautiful. It's decor is breath-taking. The service and friendly staff were immaculate. Our room was just lovely.

We had a fabulous stay...and will be back!

    Great location

Great location for walking/travelling to anywhere in central London & got a good online rate for a standard queen bedded room. Always good to see a building cleverly converted into a new use but in this case the original long tiled entrance corridor & muted colours in the reception area make for a fairly cold & uninviting entrance. Check in excellent and showed to our room by the receptionist. Everything is new & fresh. Standard room was smallish with a lot of furniture crammed into the room, e.g. a 2 seater settee beside the bed which you couldn't really sit on without putting your legs high on the bed and which prevented the bedside drawer from opening! Lovely bed with plenty of cushions & big pillows. Marble bathroom with shower over bath & bidet. Fluffy gowns & slippers but provisions in the bathroom limited to basic toiletry items. Certain basics (tea & coffee facilities, ironing board) were missing - admittedly you could phone for a valet to do your ironing. Twice during our 1 night stay we were bothered to service the mini bar (once to fill it up from the previous occupants - & we didn't check in till after 4pm). Things like this are normally handled much better at this level.

Excellent Location - London's newest Design Hotel

I always wanted to know how a Magistrates Court could be converted into a 5 star Hotel and I must say I was most impressed with what we experienced. The Courtroom is still intact with now a gourmet restaurant which has the most amazing food I have ever experienced. The Var has 3 original cells which are unique at the least. Can you imagine there is also a cinema, roof terrace and swimming pool but I did not have a chance to use them. The service and design is immaculate throughout (one of the best entertainment systems I have experienced in a Hotel!). The location is fantastic. The London palladium is next door where we saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Oxford Street is right on the door step. I have no faults with the property and must say £165 per night as a special opening rate is a BARGAIN!!! My only point - and it took me a long time to think of one - is for outside tables as the weather was fabulous on my stay.

The Courthouse Hotel is perfect. Staff are lovely, room immaculate, great design, great location (right at the top of Carnaby Street). A 5-star hotel for our 5-star weekend in London. Loved it.

    This is quality

OK, you're talking real quality here. This is a great hotel, decor is classy and looks like it might have been used on the set of Hustle (BBC).

We had a superior room with the largest bed ever - very comfy. Plasma TV was huge but not all the channels worked. Not bothered as who wants to watch TV in the centre of London!

Bathroom spotless with bathrobes and slippers. Mini bar had great selection of snacks and drink but there was no tea/coffee facilities in room.

Staff very friendly and VERY helpful, our conceirege went all the way to Oxford street to get us a black cab as none were going by the front of the hotel.

The best bit is we were moved to this hotel as the one we booked was full up so we paid less than 25% of the 400 room rate. Fantastic.

    What a superb hotel

We stayed at the Courthouse Hotel on 26 March 2005 for 1 night, and WOW it is a fabulous hotel the staff are very friendly and polite, our consierge gave us a grand tour of the hotel which was lovely, and guess what the hotel has a cinema which is only for private party's only I was very impressed. This hotel used to be the old magistrates court, they still have two cell's there that you can have drinks in which was facinating, they also have 3 restaurants and in one of them it looks similar to the house of commons. The bar is very eye catching, and there is also a large sitting area, The bedrooms are very nice, very clean and our bed was very comfortable, the location of the hotel is brilliant!! carnaby street is right on your doorstep and oxford circus is just around the corner. I would definately recommend this hotel and I will definately stay here again.

Oh my goodness, this place is fabulous. We stayed for a night at the beginning of the week and were blown away by this hotel. Location is fabulous, and it has some really amazing rooms - the main dining room is in the orginal court room and the prison cells in the bar have to be seen to be believed! WOuld definitly come back and stay again once the spa opens (apparently they have a small swimming pool as well)

    Stylish chic

We stayed in this hotel on the 11th and 12th February 2005.
