    ... most unique, fascinating, endlessly surprising place in the world becuase I'm not that well travelled, but I'd put money on it. The three days I spent there were brilliant. I even found another couple of Dali's and Picasso's on display in the Peggy Guggenheim museum. They say it's because it's had so many different global influences over hundreds of years and been the seat of huge power it's evolved the extraordinary way it has.     ... museum we walked along the main street to a marina almost completely surrounded by high brick walls except for an opening for the boats to use to go to sea. The marina was almost completely empty of water and the boats were sitting on the mud. The rise and fall of the tide is amazing and, as we were there, the tide turned and the sea began to fill the marina.

    ... back to the hotel.

    On Friday morning we left Cardiff to travel to Plymouth where we will spend 3 nights. Most of the journey was on the motorway and the traffic was not very heavy. We were happy that we were travelling south, rather than north, as the northbound traffic was very, very heavy and very slow for at least 30 miles. We don’t know why there was a great exodus from the Devon and Cornwall area - maybe they were heading to London to cheer on ...
