... dime. It especially sucked for Kal, who wasn't feeling great and had to be taxied home by Jen around 4ish. I managed to hand in there til 5:30 and have no idea how long Anant and the others lasted.
However much credit our cover fee got us, we blew past that by a wide margin. When Anant told me the total (and I relayed it to Kal and Jen) it went down none too well. We trimmed the girls' tab since they had the fewest drinks, left early, and were ...
... clubbing later that evening. Hopefully I would be able to reconcile that with whatever Anant, who also wanted to meet up that night, had in store for me.
The last bit of the wedding was for Komy to emerge from the house and her sister, female cousins, and girl friends to exact a tribute from Sidd before handing over custody her to him. A turning point in the negotiations was when Chisti stole Sidd's car keys on behalf of ...
Delhi, India betuca... our Chinese visas the other day but when we got there the embassy was closed. Not just for one day I hassen to add but for a whole week!!!! Ok quick thinking needed here. Have decided to change our route slightly and have tickets booked to fly from Delhi to Thailand on Sunday 18th October. Willa do not fret we are thinking of heading back there for Christmas and New year if your still ...
Delhi, India gibbontravels... are overcrowded with people jumping on and off the bus as the it slows but does not stop near each busstop. I have seen more men holding hands with other men than with women (men holding hands is a sign of friendship here) and men really do wear long sleeved collared shirts that are light and breathe under the hot Indian sky.
The temperature has dropped off a little since the day I arrived but it is still in the 90s and 100s most days and with little ...
... sidewalk with raised concrete footprints showing his way towards morning prayers. I opted for walking on the grass along side that sidewalk. The man is an absolute hero to me and literally walking in his final footsteps was going just a bit too far. When you reach the end of the footprint laden sidewalk you find a small concrete post known as the 'Martyr's Column'. This is the exact spot where Gandhi died. It is a powerful and deeply saddening scene when you think about a man who ...
Delhi, India nomadic1... runaway kids hang out and work such as the train station. Apparently these kids are sent to work aged 5 or 6 because the family have not enough money to feed them, they run away and live off the streets by picking pockets and collecting bottles for recycling and stuff. And they save there money, after food and drugs, to go to the cinema every Friday night! They all have dreams of being bollywood actors so reams of homeless kids all pitch up at the cinema every friday night to see ...
Delhi, India garyjampot... auto rickshaw drivers cruising the streets looking for customers needing rides to work, school or perhaps the tourist willing to take a ride in New Delhi and see the sights. And we did - we had one persistent fellow who followed us with his green- and yellow-painted little vehicle as we, on the sidewalk, keep saying our no-thank-yous (Ashleigh is much more adept at this than I am, I say it, but am told my eyes don't mean it. I am getting A LOT of practice at saying no ...
Delhi, India cindyindie... As I entered each reception he would shout something in Hindi to the man in charge. I'm sure it translated as "you have to give me money for bringing this stupid tourist here". At one point I had three people following me around. I got really annoyed and managed to loose them in an alley and darted into the first hotel I saw and stayed there even though it was actually falling apart, smelt bad and had sheets with rips and stains. As well as hotel rip-offs the ...
Delhi, India martin84... and myself would normally go and get some food and a beer in one of the hotel restaurants before hitting the sack. I have to say I did have a bit of guilt staying in a $200 a night hotel, where early morning you could see workers from the construction sites would be getting changed into their work clothes from where they had slept on the building site overnight. The funny thing was though I always thought I would never like staying in an upscale hotel. But now I think I could get ...
