... the water. We saw lots of herons nesting in the tallest of trees, and we were surprised that there were so many people walking on a Friday afternoon - but the weather was lovely! We walked Nana's legs off, as the reservoir was actually really big! We drove to Altena to eat our picnic in the sun at the side of the river, the views were equally beautiful and the castle looks wonderful in the sunshine. ... Strangely our heads were fairly clear the next morning. So the last two days we have marched around town taking it all in. It was home to heavy industry such as coal mining and steel milling. That was until May 1943 when the RAF in two sorties of some 1400 bombers flattened 98% of the city centre and 66% of social housing. Divine retribution indeed. ... after day one falling info bed for an afternoon snooze before heading out for a few drinks. We went back again today and were both progressing nicely until just before lunch. Poor old Wendy suffered an injured knee and I took the wind out of my sails with a heavy landing. This was just before our first attempt at the drag lift. Our weekend was really fun and it was so great to see each other again! I also really enjoyed showing him around my town - it is starting to feel a bit more like home now, and not just a town where I am spending my year abroad. I found myself feeling very much more at home in my house especially, and I couldn't be luckier than the lovely estate where I am living!

... school and the students bring breakfast or snack with them. The teachers gather in the teachers' lounge between each class and discuss lessons or plans for the day. They also eat and sing. It was great. Every teacher seemed to enjoy it. Also, this school does not use substitute teachers. If a teacher cannot be there, then the other teachers fill in during their time off.
