The realities of homecoming!
... any gifts for the kids yet so a shopping expedition is getting higher and higher on the list.
And so it goes. But please don't read this entry as a complaint. We are so lucky to have our wonderful, comfortable home here. Yes, it demands upkeep and when we leave for an extended period of time is shouldn't come as a surprise to us that things need attention.
We are looking forward to the fast approaching holidays, but now need to take care of business!

Home sweet home
... a Costco membership! When we discovered they sell our favorite table wine it was a good investment!
We also quickly reconnected with friends, dining or meeting for drinks with many of them during the week. It been a lovely warm return for us.
And while I still look for the flush button on the top of the toilet and try to bag my own groceries in the store, European ways ...
Pottering
... bags off him for fear he would break his back!! (he could hardly lift them, let alone carry them to my car)! Sat on the beach looking at the pier at sunset. Wrote postcards whilst sitting on the sand, watching pelicans swoop for fish in the sea in front of me. It's as idilic as it sounds! Was sitting on the balcony this evening, catching up on some emails-but kept hearing rattles from the trees below me ...(I think it was a snake-eeeeep!!) -so came inside ...
Birthday bliss
... out loud-everyone stared at me, but I didn't care! Made me feel at home :) As much as I absolutely love it out here-I think that it would be hard to be away from family and friends at birthdays and Christmas. Went to watch the sunset on the beach. The water is so clear and the sand so white. It's so beautiful that it's almost surreal. You feel like your watching it on tv-that it must be cgi-nothing real could be this stunning. But it is. Had dinner overlooking the beach. ...
Home for the Holidays!
Yes...we're finally back home. After seven months away, I feel a little like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, clicking my heels together and chanting "There's No Place Like Home!"
We took an early flight from Newark to Tampa on United Airlines. The trip was smooth and we arrived 20 minutes early! Our luggage came along for the ride and within a few minutes we were meeting our driver from Starlight Limousine at the curb. The day was sunny and warm and we felt ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Express Sarasota I-75
It worked for us!
Stayed here for three nights, found its location really convenient to tour the local area. Yes you do have to drive to the sights and the beaches, but this is offset by its excellent proximity to I75. The room we had was spacious and modern, decorated in a traditional country style. Everything worked well in the room and staff were both friendly and helpful. The room was quiet despite being near local roads (It is setback off a road behind a petrol station). Breakfast was good with reasonable choice. A safe convenient location but only for those who do not mind driving short distances to the local areas attractions!
A pleasant surprise
We stayed here for a night while on a family/business trip. It was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is fairly new and very clean. Breakfast was good. Some of the reviews have mentioned that it was set off the main road and tough to turn into. We didn't find that to be a big problem.
Great hotel
Had to visit some friends and chose this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The hotel was close to I-75 which is what we wanted for our travels. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. My husband forgot his toiletries and the hotel manager quickly supplied him with everything he needed. The morning breakfast was quite good. Hot items included waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. There were also hot and cold cereals as well as pastries. Would definitely stay there again if I had to and would recommend to anyone.
A little inconvenient
This motel is right off of I75, but about a 20-30 minute drive to the sights of Sarasota. The breakfast was great-scrambled and hard boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, bagels, waffles, fruit, juice, coffee, etc. The manager and staff were very friendly and accomadating. The room was clean. The motel is in a safe area-with all this said I shouldn't have any complaints. I really don't, but I wish we could have been closer to town. I would recommend this motel for people on business or people visiting friends close by. Next time I will stay closer in to town, not because there was anything wrong with this Country Inns and Suites-just because I find it a little inconvenient to drive about a half hour to do anything.
Little stinky
It REAKED of mildew. Not bad though after opening the widows and turning on the air. No wifi in rooms. Only in lobby, restaurant and pool. Thought I was going to have wifi in my room. But not bad for the price.
Nice but pull-out left something to be desired
My sister and I and 3 teenage girls stayed in a 1 bedroom (king size bed) with pull out sofa. The room was nice and clean. The hallways smelled mildewy but that is Florida. Our room did not smell. The pool was nice and clean. The only issue was the pull out sofa. It was only a spring with a sheet over it. There was absolutely no padding on that pull out. Very uncomfortable for a 5 day stay. With teenagers we did not leave the room until after noon so our room was not cleaned before the cleaning crew went home. The desk clerks did take the trash out for us. I would stay there again but not on the sofa!
Very good place to stay
Would highly recommend this hotel. Has a nice heated pool--jacuzzi is too hot though. Breakfast is good--really busy though no matter what time you tried to eat. Its very clean. Had a good time there. Its about 6 miles to the nearest beach.
Decent at best
This hotel is brand new - so it's fairly clean. Our problem came when we opened the door to our room - it REAKED of mildew. We were forced to stay in that room for the first night - due to the fact the hotel was sold out. They were very nice and switched our room for the second night - it still smelled of mildew - but not nearly as bad as the first room.
Nice Hotel
we stayed here on the 11th of july,04. a very nice hotel, clean rooms and a great breakfast buffet.would definetly stay here again.
Very good hotel
New hotel. Very clean and tidy both inside and out. Nice pool. Actually accepted coupon from a travel booklet - a first for me. Helpful staff.
Negative: Poorly soundproofed.
