Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Express Sarasota I-75

      It worked for us!

      from

Stayed here for three nights, found its location really convenient to tour the local area. Yes you do have to drive to the sights and the beaches, but this is offset by its excellent proximity to I75. The room we had was spacious and modern, decorated in a traditional country style. Everything worked well in the room and staff were both friendly and helpful. The room was quiet despite being near local roads (It is setback off a road behind a petrol station). Breakfast was good with reasonable choice. A safe convenient location but only for those who do not mind driving short distances to the local areas attractions!

      A pleasant surprise

      from

We stayed here for a night while on a family/business trip. It was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is fairly new and very clean. Breakfast was good. Some of the reviews have mentioned that it was set off the main road and tough to turn into. We didn't find that to be a big problem.

      Great hotel

      from

Had to visit some friends and chose this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The hotel was close to I-75 which is what we wanted for our travels. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. My husband forgot his toiletries and the hotel manager quickly supplied him with everything he needed. The morning breakfast was quite good. Hot items included waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. There were also hot and cold cereals as well as pastries. Would definitely stay there again if I had to and would recommend to anyone.

      A little inconvenient

      from

This motel is right off of I75, but about a 20-30 minute drive to the sights of Sarasota. The breakfast was great-scrambled and hard boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, bagels, waffles, fruit, juice, coffee, etc. The manager and staff were very friendly and accomadating. The room was clean. The motel is in a safe area-with all this said I shouldn't have any complaints. I really don't, but I wish we could have been closer to town. I would recommend this motel for people on business or people visiting friends close by. Next time I will stay closer in to town, not because there was anything wrong with this Country Inns and Suites-just because I find it a little inconvenient to drive about a half hour to do anything.

      Little stinky

      from

It REAKED of mildew. Not bad though after opening the widows and turning on the air. No wifi in rooms. Only in lobby, restaurant and pool. Thought I was going to have wifi in my room. But not bad for the price.

Nice but pull-out left something to be desired

      from

My sister and I and 3 teenage girls stayed in a 1 bedroom (king size bed) with pull out sofa. The room was nice and clean. The hallways smelled mildewy but that is Florida. Our room did not smell. The pool was nice and clean. The only issue was the pull out sofa. It was only a spring with a sheet over it. There was absolutely no padding on that pull out. Very uncomfortable for a 5 day stay. With teenagers we did not leave the room until after noon so our room was not cleaned before the cleaning crew went home. The desk clerks did take the trash out for us. I would stay there again but not on the sofa!

      Very good place to stay

      from

Would highly recommend this hotel. Has a nice heated pool--jacuzzi is too hot though. Breakfast is good--really busy though no matter what time you tried to eat. Its very clean. Had a good time there. Its about 6 miles to the nearest beach.

      Decent at best

      from

This hotel is brand new - so it's fairly clean. Our problem came when we opened the door to our room - it REAKED of mildew. We were forced to stay in that room for the first night - due to the fact the hotel was sold out. They were very nice and switched our room for the second night - it still smelled of mildew - but not nearly as bad as the first room.

      Nice Hotel

      from

we stayed here on the 11th of july,04. a very nice hotel, clean rooms and a great breakfast buffet.would definetly stay here again.

      Very good hotel

      from

New hotel. Very clean and tidy both inside and out. Nice pool. Actually accepted coupon from a travel booklet - a first for me. Helpful staff.

      Negative: Poorly soundproofed.

      Dog culture

... grass so the dog can pee. You take your dog out to puppy classes to learn about how to get along with people and other dogs since your puppy will be hibernating in your home until April, seeing no one but you. I'm told (by dog people who KNOW) that there is a window of opportunity when a puppy is very young to learn socialization. If you miss that window, you will have a maladjusted dog. Hence the puppy ...

      Getting a routine

A travel blog entry by jchende on Jan 07, 2015

Our social life so far revolves around the dog park. We've been there the last 2 days and met some nice folks, most from the Midwest and here for a month or more. All have been here in the past. I am working on remembering the names of people and their dogs. It is a great place to get information on all kinds of things about the island. I spent $20 and got a library card. Paul's cousin, Jerry, is staying in Sarasota this month (thank you Facebook for that info). He and his wife came ...

      Sunset Surprise

... it is presented in gift-form later this month... But we managed to actually put my camera to use for a few other fun shots, including several of a Great Blue Heron that landed just before sunset and started picking morsels out of the tidepools. What a majestic creature and utterly calm feel at that golden moment. Maybe it's because I kept my expectations low, but this trip has really been a picturesque, relaxing vacation so far.

Today I had a chance to connect with my inner child, thanks to a unique birthday party hosted by Karen McClure, the Birthday Girl. The party was at the local "Build A Bear" store at Westfield Mall. They opened the store early especially for Karen's party. More than 50 friends gather to create unique bears to be donated to pediatric units of Sarasota Memorial Hospital as well as the local All Children's Hospital.

      Karen and ...
