    Long day riding. Stayed off the Interstate Highway but was a great deal longer to get to my destination.
    A hot day riding - no shade or cloud cover.

    I was going to stop at Shreveport for a cold drink but circled the town and decided to head off to Alexandria via US 171 South (The Scenic Route - according to the HD Touring Guide).

    Whilst it was probably far more scenic that the main Interstate Highway it did take me a ways South ...

    ... which meant it was worn which would cause leakage when overheating thus losing its charge when hot. This made sense as the bike started every morning, but as the air and engine temperature rose during the day, the heated battery people lose its charge and she would not have enough power to turn the bike over.

    ... easy...finding accommodation which had a vacancy however...not so easy. We found about 20 or so motels/hotels but all were fully booked due to some sporting event in the city. Bloody sport. We finally found a space at America's best value inn, rooms for $40...unless they realise everywhere else is booked up, then it's rooms for $69!
