... Also, all but one trail was flooded and even sections of the boardwalk path were under water, from recent floods. We walked as far as we could, looking at old growth hardwood forest and squirrels.

Then set off and arrived at Santee State Park. John spotted turkey vultures nearby. Beautiful wooded campground next to Lake Marion, largest lake in South Carolina, built by damming the Santee River in the 1940s. Warm weather at last. So good to be able to live outdoors ...

We woke up to 8 inches of snow but the sun came out about 9. The hotel did not plow the parking lot but did have scrapers for guests! At breakfast, we spoke with a couple from NJ who had come from NJ and hit the snow in Baltimore. Took them 4 hours to get to Stafford! They got there about 8pm so we made a great decision to get off the road when we did. We really liked this Hampton Inn and should stay there again. Once ...

Got off to a good start this morning...about 7:15. It was a pretty quiet, uneventful trip. We did see gas for $2.99 in Wytheville, VA and was going to get some, but this price was for cash. Richard thought we'd find the same price on down the road. NO...it was $3.00. Did we stop? Nahhh...kept going. At 1/8 of a tank, we did get gas...only it was $3.03. All I can say is, it's a lot less than at ...

... I bet he was the truck parked next to us..... He said,"hey!!" Not in a friendly way but in a wtf way. He then watched me walk back to the cab (I think he was bewildered). Yes, I have a pee pot (more about that later). Men can just hang off the side of the truck. Fueling up takes a long time....we have a small tank. They can get up to 300 gallons though. To fill the tank on this truck can cost $750! Besides fueling there ...
