... and headed out about 9:00. We stopped at Sam’s in Bowling Green for about 30 minutes and then headed on to Nashville. The roads changed significantly when we entered Tennessee, not nearly as good as Kentucky. Traffic was pretty heavy as we neared Nashville so it was after 11:00 before we got to the campground. It’s a Passport campground so we camped a little cheaper this time.
We didn't get up and moving until around 2 o'clock today. Adam had to work at 4 so we pulled ourselves out of bed and went to put some food in our bellies. Las Maracas hit the spot with some enchiladas and a strawberry Margarita to start the day. After we ate, it was a tough debate on whether to go back to Adam's for a nap or head toward Drifters. The bar was largely empty, apart from several small groups of strange looking guys, and some even stranger looking guys sitting on their own. None of the guys were younger than 30, but they happily drank shots off the girls who were 10 years their junior. ... and wanted to go, GREECE. In particular, Santorini, Greece. Along the way, we are going to be stopping throughout different parts of Greece, Turkey, Croatia and Italy for TWO weeks! At this point, I feel like I'm on the edge of a cliff, with one leg stretched over the edge about to fall into a blissful, weightless joy before the hard reality of a grown up life takes over in a few months.
The landscape this morning has been more like home with the tree-lined interstate and lush, green weeds!!!! Even saw our first lake since California in Arkansas.
Not that I have a rest area fetish, but the Arkansas Welcome Center was beautiful with Craftsman-style lighting and well-designed landscape. Like Oklahoma, it had a stone sign for the state name. Even the women in the reception area wore suits.
