... Platte River Archway. It is a museum and monument to Nebraska's and the Platte River valley's role in westward expansion. The Archway is directly over Interstate 80. .

We passed a lot of small towns and each one had a museum of some sort usually about the western pioneers. It is helpful to have a smartphone because I was constantly looking up stuff we saw on the way and it made the ride more interesting.

Last night I stayed in Lincoln, Nebraska at a girl named Rebecca's house. I met her through the website Couchsurfing. She is 26 and graduated from University of Nebraska right in Lincoln and grew up in western Nebraska. She lived right downtown and when I arrived at about 4:30, we walked to a ramen restaurant and then down to a coffee place in the "Haymarket" which is the more historical part of Lincoln. ... to 2014. We caught the travel bug again and decided to hit the road. This time heading West. The Pace Arrow was replaced with another Fleetwood Bounder 37' with two slides, and we down sized to just one Pomeranian, Foxy. We are on the first leg of our five year plan (or for as long as we can handle being on the road). Our main destination this year is Yellowstone National Park and I'm excited that we are almost there. ...

... made across Nebraska. I-80 through Southern Nebraska is one long road going east/west and looks the same all across the state - flat and green. Tonight we'll enjoy another Red Box movie and maybe some apple cobbler with ice cream later (that would be Jim speaking), as we are parked behind a Cracker Barrel and he googled their dessert ...
