Woke up feeling refreshed after 10+ hours of sleep and was on the road by 6am. There was little wind today which was a blessed relief and so by 7.30 I was enjoying breakfast in Little Falls having done 24m. I didn't have any intention of shooting it but I thought at least the sound of a gun would scare it off. And then we drove back to the farm and collected the eggs and did the chicken chores and then late afternoon Sarah and I drove the quad bikes through the woods and trails of the property and Will came on the back of mine! We went for a nice long ride but then Sarah accidentally ran hers into a tree and it didn't want to start up again so we had to tie a strap onto her bike and then connect it onto mine and then I had to pull her quad ...
... for Debbie who was gonna put the cages on the pea plants so they could grow up and have something to support them. I also did the chicken chores and then I decided to bake a lemon cake which took longer than expected because I stupidly put it on the bottom rack to bake which didn't have enough heat so then I changed it later on to the top rack and it finally cooked!!! ... so that the ground can dry off and we can start planting and weeding again! It's just too wet to plant anything at the moment! Mosquitos have been super bad. I keep getting bitten! Thank god for insect repellent. I also wear one of those little "Off!" fans that you clip on to the back of your shirt which seems to repel them quite well. Overall I had a good first day here! Might even be lucky enough to get to ride some horses too- fingers ...
