Diego resigns, we visit ruins and drink tequila

... ever been on. Thank God I brought travel sick pills.

San Cristobal is up in the mountains. It's a great little town. Loads of shopping. Diego told us it was a good place to get traditional Mexican food. So we went for dinner at a Lebanese restaurant run by two brothers from London. Then we went to watch a film about corruption in the Mexican police. I was glad I had already been to Mexico city, otherwise I think the film would have put me off, as it was mainly about ...

Tequila, it makes me happy

... 5 bucks and had a bit of banter with a couple from Argentina before finally heading back to the digs for a snooze. Skipped the free food but went to the bar to meet my new French amigos to meet the couple from last night but they failed to show. We were all quite relieved actually and they had bought some tequila that day as a gift for the couple so we got stuck into that, it wasn´t shot stuff though it was good stuff with honey in, really nice. I managed to convince the 2 ...

In the beginning......

... floor her at any moment. I didn´t much fancy her chances of getting down in one piece, so I generously suggested she go ahead of me, so she wouldn´t take me out on her way down.

Due to being jet lagged and waking up early, I had arrived at the pyramids before pretty much anyone else, including the hawkers - result! But by now they were out in force, trying to sell me laquered cats and gold elephants and all manner of ****. I went to hide from them in the on site museum ...

San Luis Potosi - An Interesting City

... village, town or city. Of course the larger the town the larger the market and chances are that in a large city there would be several mercados. In the Mercado Hidalgo, the selection and quantity of fruit offered at reasonable prices is abundant. Vegetables are available but do not seem to come in the same quantity and perhaps freshness as fruit. Of special interest are the meat and poultry vendors and their limited use of ...

San Luis Potosi - A Different Kind of Christmas

... in Mexico is something special based on it being the world's most Catholic country by far. Catholicism is alive and well as church attendance is steady throughout the year and not only just for the holiday season. (Semana Santa around Easter is supposed to be even more intense.) Mexican Christmas celebrations are described as being like nowhere else on earth. That certainly caught my attention and raised my expectations of what we were about to ...

Nesting

... all, it´s okay... if I just close my eyes and think powder. So, yeah... sort of dealing with a lot right now. An annoying hinderance has been my preconceptions about what travel "should" be. My head tells me it´s evil to drink a Starbucks in Mexico City. Why? It made me feel good. My head tells me I need to go see/do certain things. Why do ANYTHING out of a sense of obligation? That´s ****. I refuse to live, let alone ...

Fun filled adventures

... what I needed. At around 8 pm we returned to the hostel and got ready to go out. We invited some girls but they declined (why does this sound so familiar!). So guess where we ate? You guessed it! Zona Rosa again, well at least it was at a different diner. After dinner we arrived at the infamous club "Living." This club was SO cool. Although we did have to pay around a 15 dollar cover (about 150 pesos) it was well worth it considering beer was free until 12 pm. The dancing was awesome ...

Mi Casa Su Casa - Tres Chicas Fuerte Revisited

... conversation and smiles. Imelda's Father promised us his house anytime and for his, and all of their's, we really appreciated the true friendliness that exists here in Mexico. During one of our frequent wandering through the city Ryan discovered this insight: Ryans: Bob, do you realize that we are always surrounded by packs of young girls? Bob: I know buddy, I know. We are on a roll! Lesson from Uncle Bob: If everyone practiced "Mi casa Su casa" the world would be a better place.
