Friendly staff. Great room. Nice pool. Yummy breakfast. All in all a good stay with a useful transfer system from the airport. The complementary goodie bag on check-in was a nice touch. The staff were willing to help with any problems.

Good place for stay & park
After reading other reviews, I was prepared for rude staff. However they didn't appear to be working while we visited in early November! Staff were helpful in explaining how the airport shuttle worked and also how to get to NYC via train. Nothing seemed a problem to any of the staff and they were all courteous.
We left our car and traveled overseas before returning and staying for one night. The room was a good size and the beds large and comfortable. We had a large tv with a lot of channels including HBO. The bathroom was a good size also. We didn't notice noise from any airplanes.
The breakfast room had lots of tables and plenty of selections of yogurt, waffles, bagels, cereals, juices etc.
The hotel is across the road from the Jersey Gardens Outlet Mall and the airport shuttle will also drop off/pick up guest from there.
If we need to overnight at Newark again, we will definitely stay here again.
Excellent, excellent, excellent, cannot fault the hotel
This was an excellent hotel, I could not fault any service. It was beautifully clean with exceptional facilites, including swimming pool, and gym. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, with so much choice, healthy or fattening it was the guests decision. The staff were so helpful, and made me feel like a celebrity. Travelling alone I had intended only staying one night, as I passed through Newark Airport, but I cancelled a hotel booking in New York and stayed at the Country Inn instead for a total of six nights. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the free shuttle to the airport, it was a little hit and miss on occasions. Allow an extra half hour to get to the airport, and you will be fine.
Good hoteL---bad shuttle service
We stayed at the hotel one night for their park and fly rate.
The room was very nice and clean.
It was nice to walk over to the Jersey Garden Outlet Mall and walk around and grab something to eat in the food court.
The breakfast in the morning was continental and even though it says it opens at 6 in the morning we were able to get something at 5:30.
The problem is the shuttle service. You have to hope you will get on it. At 6:00 it was nearly full and someone told us that they could not get the 5:30 shuttle because it was full. The shuttle only runs every half hour and seems to be very popular. Make sure you get there 15 minutes early so you can be sure to get on.
When we returned from our trip we called the shuttle to pick us up at the airport and no one came. After 45 minutes it was getting dark and we called again. They couldn't understand why we weren't picked up and said they would send the van again. 20 minutes later it arrived. We were not happy but didn't complain because we were tired and wanted to get home. We are going to give this hotel another chance since we were so happy with our stay, but if the shuttle service is still bad we will never return.
They forced me to take smoking room with one bed
The entrance looks great but the front desk staff did not smile. This girl put us into a smoking room and would not change, telling me the non smoking room all sold out. I asked for a two double bed non smoking room but I was told the room was the only one left. I had a feeling that I was not welcome.
So, I had to sleep on the floor, letting my wife and kids sleep on the bed. I could not sleep well because this is a smoking room and the noise from the airport and woke up around 2am; I was surprised to see the parking lot was half vacant. I was wondering why I was told this hotel was sold out.
The breakfast was complimentary but I did not know what to eat; there was no hot food, no scramble eggs, no saussage, no backon, ... so I just drink some orange juice and ate cold boiled egg.
This is not the type of hotels I want to stay again.
Nice big hotel, good staff
We stayed here for a night on Sep 5. This is a good hotel with friendly staff. The rooms were good and so was the breakfast. There weren't a whole lot of places to eat around this hotel. Good place to stay if you are visiting New York. You could drive just a bit and take the free Staten Island Ferry or the Statue of Liberty tour from the NJ side.
Recommended good hotel and location.
I stayed at the Country Inn & Suites from July 29 - 30 and again Aug.3-5. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone. A new hotel, the rooms were large and clean, as well as bathroom. Liked the ironing-board and iron, as well as a safe in the closet. Liked the added touch of whirlpool and swimming pool. Also, laundry room. Impressed with the continental PLUS style breakfast. Waffles, french toast, boiled eggs, cereals, yogurt, pastries and bagels, along with juice, tea, & coffee. You could get a good start to the day with breakfast. Location good for me....convenient airport nearby and free shuttle provided by the hotel to and from airport, the Jersey Garden Mall (you could walk to the mall across the street), Ikea, and the airport train station to NY. Execellent!
Only problem I had was with the doors and room key. The doors are heavy and stiff to open and the room key had to be reprogrammed several times in order to open the door. A bit of a pain having to return back downstairs to the front-desk each time to have this done.
Otherwise, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all, especially my Bermudian travellers! Hopefully, the hotel will keep up with this impression, as well as continue to improve.
Bad staff, Good hotel
Kept a group here two separate times in June, 2004. Good and bad. Good...hotel is very nice, rooms are very good, nice continental breakfast Plus and very good location as it's about five minute walk to a very large mall.
Bad....the front office staff is one of the worst I've ever experienced and they have some terrible policies. They have a strict 3PM check and they preassign exact rooms for you. My group of ten arrived earlier than 3PM for check in and because our rooms were preassigned and not yet cleaned, they wouldn't let us have other rooms that were clean. even if a guest wasn't do until later that day they wouldn't switch our rooms so we could get in. I've never experienced that with any hotel.
The second time we stayed we arrived around midnight and had asked to have our room keys ready so we could go right to our rooms without delay. The keys were indeed ready upon our arrival but when w all went to our rooms none of the keys worked. Everyone had to go back down.
Other things like that as well. Again, good hotel, less than good staff.
This hotel was really great. Very clean, the staff was very friendly, and the rooms were spacious. The breakfast was very good. This hotel is definately a good price for what you get. We had a very wonderful stay and will be back.
Clean Rooms+Good Food=Great Hotel
I stayed in this hotel 2 nights during an organised trip to NYC last November (I guess Manhattan hotels were too expensive.) I stayed in a single room but it was very large. The bathroom was spacious (and, most important, it was very clean) and it had nice fluffy towels. The staff was friendly and the free breakfast was amazing: waffle maker, juice bar, 5-6 different choices of breads and cereals...and...doughnuts! Oh my...they were heaven! It really gave our group a boost of energy before heading out for some major sightseeing! The only "problems" present at this hotel (as mentioned by the previous reviewer) were the noise factor (airport nearby) and the surrounding area (or lack thereof). I wished there had been some sort of supermarket or convenience store nearby. There's no minibar in the room (thank God...I'm sure I would have run up quite a tab). But they do sell a few snack options in the lobby. Oh, and we got a complimentary copy of USA Today on Saturday morning. All in all, staying at this hotel was a positive experience: nothing too fancy but clean rooms, good food and a friendly staff. If you don't mind staying far from the city lights, then I would recommend this hotel.
Great staff good value
Very good value for a typical chain motel-clean, nice new rooms and a good price; great breakfast; fast trip to the airport; most of the staff went out of their way to help me. Only negatives - a little airplane noise but not bad (I always bring earplugs), the mall looks further away than it sounds to walk for food but they have a shuttle; and the NJ add-on taxes -ouch!

... more than an hour or two to get down to ground zero. In context we were starting out on 62nd street. 20 blocks in and 2 hours later we realised we may have underestimated the distance and did the New Yorker thing and hailed a taxi to take us the rest of the way.
Incredibly we found the only taxi driver in New York who a) didn't realise it was 9/11 today, and b) didn't know where ground zero was even though we showed him a map of the location.
Ok, ok. Where do I start!? On the plus side I'm alive! Just. Worst plane journey I think I've had, flying from Iceland to New York having had 2 hours sleep in 2 days, it's roasting hot and I can't sleep. I've done 14 hour flights and not felt as claustrophobic as I did on this one. I needed off!
