    Nevada [pronounced "Nah-vay-duh"], Missouri. Our plan was to stay in Nevada, MO with the intention of visiting Ft Scott National Historic Site, but it happened to be right in the midst of the government's shut-down. As a result, we explored the small town of Nevada and the Harry S Truman Birthplace State Historic Site in Lamar, MO.

    ... gas has no ethanol in it. The winds are fierce, coming from the west, which is not helping our gas mileage. At least the wind is eliminating all bug problems.

    We crossed over into Nebraska and turned west along Highway 2, through the Sandhills region. Very scenic and not boring at all. Found a beautiful little State Park, Victoria Springs, about 6 miles off the highway. ..a couple of dozen grassy ...
