... the spigot. I was bummed that I had emptied the "good" water already. Oh well, gotta have something to drink. I had a great, quiet ride up to Muscatine. What a great road for cyclists! The city was an eye sore coming up from the south side. It's very industrial with tons of train tracks and semis. I spotted two touring cyclists across a divided road going the opposite direction. It was two girls, and one had a big smile and waved. I was so bummed that I didn't get to meet them. ...

Made it to Knoxville, which was an unbelievable drive on the motorways...minus 40 degrees outside, which I think is about 23 below zero New Zealand speak! Matts moms house is surrounded by snow and it is bitterly cold outside.....really really cold!!! Went down to the store a little while ago...its a really small place, so not a lot to do apart from stay inside and keep warm. Its been great to have Matts family together. Tonya stayed with the kids ...

We took the scenic route back through Burlington before hitting Galesburg again. A quick shower and some make up and we were ready to hit up this small ...

... to it, got some beer at the store, sat out right next to the ole Mississippi. Nice spot. People are very friendly, crusty but very friendly. They have showers (cool water )and flush toilets (yeah!!!). The river is down 6 feet! They say it floods the entire campground every spring. Can you imagine? sunny, high 70s. we've had such nice weather the entire month. Jim met 'Charlie', very friendly guy in his 70s.

... one of the best lunches we’ve had this season yet.

I forgot the name of it, but it’s a restaurant below a furniture store downtown (all owned by the same folks) and they specialize in the best comfort food you could ever want to eat. I got the Hungarian Goulash in a bread bowl and I was THRILLED to see Liptauer (a Hungarian cheese spread that I fell in love with when I worked at ...
