... in a neighbor's truck to SeaTac International Airport. Our flight left at 4:30, bound for Reykjavik, where we would connect to Frankfurt, our first destination. I enjoyed the flight, to my shock. I'd had always been uncomfortable with air travel, but this time, I felt quite safe and secure in the air, at least for the first few hours. We arrived in Iceland's capital ...

The bus headed east and up into the mountains. We didn't appear to climb that much in the bus. Then suddenly we rounded a corner after about an hour and a half and found snow and a ski resort that was 50 metres from the road. It was snowing lightly and the scenery was something out of a postcard. We piled out and made our way into the ski rental lodge. Everyone was give a set ...

... in 1851. Soon they realized that the currents surrounding the point did not make the location good for docks and harbors, so the settlement was relocated across the sound. Doc Maynard was one of those first to arrive and he had the wisdom to befriend the Native Americans, thus naming the new city for the chief. The area abounded with hugh cedar trees and Mr. Yessler opened the first commercial venture in the area, a saw mill, on what is still known ...

... to call it a day.

We loaded up the van & for the first time in 31 days we headed east. Just for fun, we told the GPS to go home. From Seattle to Saybrook would be 32 hours of driving time. We have a lot of driving ahead of us & a few more fun stops to make. Our plan is to be home Sunday, June 1. It's highly likely that both sets of grandparents will be staking out our house so they can get their hands on their grandkids :)
