    Left London airport around noon after being frisked at security. 8 hour flight (took forever)!!! Arrived in Minneapolis at around 3:30 or so? Customs line was so long! Said goodbyes and went home with Mom! Thanks for everyone who was following my blog! I had the time of my life and am so happy to have gone on this trip ...

    ... Lucy" which is two burgers stuffed with cheese. I got mine with american, Jon had bleu cheese. We both agreed the american cheese stuffed one tasted better. We rounded out our day with a trip to Ikea which I had never been to. It was fun for us to look at home items and dream about when we would have a home of our own.     ... is Monday, and I start my all-day drive to Grand Portage on Friday, take the all-day ferry on Saturday, and start hiking on Sunday. I'm thinking I should swathe myself in bubble wrap and stay in bed until it's time to leave lest I sprain my ankle, get West Nile virus, or am attacked by flesh-eating bacteria.

    You won't hear from me again for a few more weeks since I can't blog directly from the island. I appreciate your comments on my writing, so let me know what you think!

    ... other dinners were memorable. We also got some Just Veggies to add to our meals, but didn’t use that much of it. They had a strong flavor that tended to overwhelm whatever we added them to. You already know about the gorp and peanut butter. Ug.

    Gear we didn’t use: compass, headlamps, rope, sewing kit, spare anything, rain gear. Several pounds of gorp and nuts. All that extra weight, for nothing. If only I'd had a crystal ball...
