Stayed here for 3 nights during the past week Dec. 22-25 and after everything is said and done, the hotel was average. I am not picky about where I stay for the most part..the place was clean and orderly. Just remember the hotel is off Tunnel Road, a high traffic road in Asheville, so the hotel gets lots of foot traffic through its door during the year. If you want to stay in/around the mall and chain restraunts and want something under $100 this is probably the hotel for you. If you want to spend a little more the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn further up the street are a little more secluded and a bit nicer.

It was the little things that added up which got to me.

1. Mold spots in the shower

2. internet connection broken, had to get a new one from from desk

3. Remote control was broken, very old.

4. As for the breakfast, your typical dried out eggs, sausage and what not. The bar was very dirty as well. Might consider spending $5 at either the Waffle House or IHOP next door.

Like I said the place was average. The most important part, was that is was clean, but diffenetly not a 5 Excellent.

Great Hotel!!

My husband and I just got back from this great hotel. We just stayed one night since we had Candlelight Evening Tickets & Dinner reservations at the Biltmore Estate.

We got the room for under $70 and it was well worth every penny! The hotel is very clean and nicely decorated. The lobby was decorated for the holidays and had a lovely fireplace. The gentlemen who checked us in was very friendly and helpful as well.

Upon entering the hotel, we were very surprised at how new it was. The carpet looked brand new and the paint was fresh. We had a non-smoking king room on the 3rd floor. Our bathroom was spotless and the shower was very clean ( that is usually the first thing I notice).

The room was nicely furnished and you have ample room to move about. We couldn't believe it was only $65 per night!

To make things even better, they provide the guests with complimentary continental breakfast, not the usual bagel and fruit, but a NICE sized breakfast. Some of the items: cold and hot cereal, assorted fresh fruit, fruit salad, eggs, waffles (you make your own), sausage links, bagels, toast, coffee, juices, and the best biscuits and sausage gravy I have had at a hotel yet!

The hotel is also very easy to find from the main highways and is in close proximity to the Asheville Mall and the Biltmore Estate.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who is looking for an affordable, clean, and comfortable place to stay in Asheville!

Would go back

We stayed here in December to go to the Biltmore and do some Christmas shopping. This hotel is located near lots of restaurants, downtown asheville, the bigger asheville mall, biltmore village... you name it, we were close to it. The hotel staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good (fruit, yogurt, bagels, bread, waffles, juice, coffee, cereal, gravy,biscuits, egg, sausage links). The indoor pool is small (you won't be swimming laps) but there is a whirlpool, too. I used the workout room where there are 2 treadmills, and a bike and an elliptical machine and a TV. Our room, a king suite, was very roomy and clean and included a microwave, fridge, iron and board, alarm clock and coffee maker w/coffee. We also had free internet connection and free local calls. There are free cookies, apples, bananas, coffee, and copies of the USA today available everyday in the lobby. How can you beat this??

Great Hotel..

A group of four of us stayed in two rooms at this hotel for two nights Nov. 20-21. The price was in the mid 60 dollar range. The desk clerks were friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautifully decorated in a country style as the name indicates but not overdone in the country theme. Our king room was spacious, clean and even smelled good. Breakfast was good with waffles as their hot food item on their continental breakfast bar. Homemade cookies were placed in the lobby each afternoon and evening with coffee, apple cider and hot chocolate. I would stay here again.

Everything about the hotel was great. I couldn't believe a hotel of this caliber was so cheap when we went. The staff was incredibly helpful. The rooms were large and clean. The entire hotel just felt very comfortable and cozy.

Clean and modern place to stay

We stayed for 5 nights in July and had an excellent vacation. It is in a centrally located position near shopping malls and restaurants and is convenient for touring the Smoky Mountains and Pisgah national forest with access onto the Blue Ridge Parkway nearby. We found the staff extremely courteous and friendly. We were expecting a fridge and microwave in the room but these are only in the studio suites; we had a king bedroom. The room however was very clean and airy. The choice at the complimentary breakfast was very good and we enjoyed our stay here.

Bad experience!

Our problems began upon checkin - I had in my hand a confirmation for a non-smoking suite but the reservation had been changed to a regular room with 2 beds. When I had made the reservation the agent told me all they had was a suite with a king size bed but that she would add a note that if two queen beds in a suite became available that they would change it. Well, the front desk changed it to a regular room and then argued with me informing me that the problem was that I had used "central booking" instead of calling them directly. I asked them to honor my original confirmed reservation and was told there were absolutely no suites available now. This was a holiday weekend so my option of going to another hotel was not possible. I asked that some kind of concession or adjustment be made on the price since this was their error but was refused. I later went down to front desk and spoke with another clerk who said they could put us in a smoking suite the next two nights if I wanted that. We made the switch the next night and the "suite" was essentially a room which had been divided into two small rooms. I regretted making the change....we had hoped to have more room, not less plus now we were in a smoking room! All in all, not a very pleasant experience!

The cookies and coffee in the lobby were a nice touch. They also had a basket of fruit sitting out but it was literally black bananas! Yuck! The continental breakfast would have been decent but the room where it is served is way too small to accomodate the number of guests in the hotel. You either had to stand around in the lobby or go back to your room.

The swimming pool was small but nice but the tile floors around the pool area are very hazardous. Both of my small grandchildren fell, just walking around the pool. Way too slippery.

I would not go back to this hotel.

Nice Place

My husband, two kids and I stayed here two nights in May. It is very clean and accommodating. The hotel and rooms are extremely clean. All the employees are very helpful. The hotel is located about 4 miles from Biltmore Estate. They have tickets as well as "back road" directions to the Biltmore. We came across a coupon in a book for a different Country Inn & Suites for $52.00 per night but they honored the same price for us. We would certainly stay here again.

Great place to stay!

We have stayed in this motel twice in the last year. During our trips we found the rooms to be spacious -2 queen beds and the complimentary breakfast to be plentiful. We really enjoyed cooking our own Belgium waffles - so much better than those you have to put in the microwave. Our girls (6 and 11) loved the small indoor pool which was always full of new friends. The staff was friendly and courteous and you can buy tickets for the Biltmore Estate at the front desk which saves you a lot of time. It is in a central location near lots of eateries. We enjoy staying here.

Nice, clean hotel

We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites August 15-17, 2004. The hotel was very nice and clean. The lobby area from the check-in desk to the fireplace and hallways were welcoming and made you feel at home.

Cookies, which were set out in the afternoon along with thermoses of hot coffee, were a nice treat too. They were Otis Spunkmyer and the ones I tried appeared to be Cranberry, macadamia nut and something else. Yum, very good.

The dining area was nice, too. It faced the front of the hotel and had windows all around. Although the breakfast was listed as a continental breakfast, they had a waffle maker where you could make your own waffles. This is something you don't see in many hotels that offer continental breakfasts.

The rooms were 2 feet longer than a standard room (according to the reservations clerk). It felt very roomy without being a suite. We had a non-smoking room and it was obvious the minute we opened the door. There was a pleasant odor probably from the air freshener they used.

Front desk staff was always very friendly and helpful. They offered menus of local restaurants and driving directions to the Biltmore.

The location of this hotel was about three miles from the Biltmore Estate. There was a mall with plenty of other stores within a half-mile. A large variety of restaurants were available nearby.

Another plus was the high speed internet. I enjoyed it while my son enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub.

When I am in this area in the future, I would definitely stay here again.
