    ... the boys and I pulled in
    to a gas station on the highway to fill up.
    A sign on the front of the canopy over the pumps warned of the
    clearance… but my sign showed me I had almost a foot to spare so we pulled in
    underneath… forgetting the antennae… and the tips managed to neatly take out several
    dozen fluorescent light bulbs! It was
    raining glass all around us as I brought the vehicle ...

    ... Additionally, sometime yesterday the safety glass in the cabover bunk escape window exploded, sending glass everywhere. Put on a temporary repair (Gorilla Tape) when we stopped for the night tonight. Gorilla Tape is the successor to Duct Tape and MUCH stronger.

One was a bunch of food I had bounced to myself from Damascus, and the other, conveniently enough, was a larger food bag that I had ordered and sent to my parents, who sent it to me, among other goodies.     ... so I suppose you can have bad nights anywhere. Oh well. I had planned on skipping Marion, VA, which was the next town of any noticeable size after Damascus, but a combination of circumstances got me to head in. I'm using the Sawyer Mini filter for my water, which works by attaching onto any bottle and then having the water squeezed through it, and the Sawyer bag I was using got a tiny hole in it. It was still usable but leaked ... at least, until it developed a large rip in the side. ...

    ... morning in their warm little house, including homemade muffins and a private little concert. Of course the house is delightfully chockablock with antiques, poster, photos, mostly with a musical theme.
    Erynn had managed to get us two weekend passes for the Houstonfest music festival in Felts Park in Galax, so we drove on down and grabbed a camping spot right on the grassy fairground, where we have been for the weekend.
