      ... session as a precursor to dinner in a local restaurant. Said dinner comprise shared plates and included New Zealand venison loin which was served with a rutabaga purée, bacon and currants. The Blackhawks lost 1-5 but it is always interesting watching the spectacle that surrounds the game.       ... somewhat bizarre location; the area is dominated by tall buildings; the John Hancock building which is 50% taller than the Shard, stands just a few blocks away. Luckily the sun never goes behind the buildings, so we enjoyed a day of unbroken sunshine, without the high winds we had endured on the beach in Boston. The water was also very nice, and oddly was fresh water which made it very pleasant to swim in.

      ... A couple innings later his wife returned from getting ice cream and he turned around to offer me a mini bat since he had heard I was buying one at each stadium.       Chicago....amazing, overwhelming, efficient, wonderful skyline, polite inhabitants, super shopping. Highlights included a bus tour in the bitter cold sitting atop in ponchos in the rain, an excellent lake tour, drinking beer on top of the Hancock Tower 96 floors up, witnessing a marriage proposal and a Cubs game.
