I drove about 885km today.

Had a Starbucks breakfast in the Hyatt, and got out of St. Louis easily enough. I drove non-stop to the Kansas border, to a small place called Atchison, where the house Amelia Earhart was born in is located. Two grannies (or possibly great-great-grannies; they were quite rickety) let me in and told me what to look at, then I wandered around myself.

At SC, it took us awhile to learn how to set up our pop up tents. Our campground was between the Missouri River and I29 near downtown. This was NOT going to be a quiet evening of sleep before Day 1!

The South Dakota Badlands are a must see. As you travel the country side the Badlands just appear from nowhere, the landscape give you no idea what's coming. From the top of the Badlands you can see how the hills are eroding as they diminish down into the lower plains.
The Badlands National Park has a beautiful drive which finishes at the small town of Wall where the now famous "Wall drug store" is. ...
