Kick Stand UP

Well it has finally come around, retired on Friday the 2nd, cleaned out the office on the 3rd and headed out on the 4th. Not much time to finalize packing as I had hoped. As things normally go in life, this was no different. On Friday the water stopped flowing to my house. After some sleuthing and allot of digging We discovered a crack in the pipe from the river well to the house. Had to spend most of the next day further digging and getting the whole neighborhood involved in the fix. Did I m...

If we feel like stopping somewhere else or if we want to continue driving past these places, we for sure can.)

Next we'll continue our travels up the 101 to Newberg, Or where we'll be staying with Katie and Sam! (Some of the people named one or two of you won't know. They're mostly all from YWAM though) Once we've spent some time with them it's off to Seattle where we'll be picking up Natasha. We can either stay for the night or continue driving. It's about a 3 ...

Beach Me

So we were off to San Clemente, CA where the fun meets the sun. We arrived at about 11am and packed up the truck and headed to the beach. By we I mean Shelley, Bane, Banning, Kara and I. Now there are so many stories to tell you about me and Shelley as kids, but I will leave that up to Kellie and Mickey. Lets just say that me and Shelley go way back....like we have been ...

Santa Ana

The bus journey to Santa Ana in El Salvador, which should have taken about 2 hours max, took 4 mainly because the young guy working on the collectivo from Chiqimula dropped off every one of his 4 girlfriends right at their doors which were sometimes at the end of very long dirt tracks. One even (deliberately I thought) left her bag on the bus and we had to reverse back up the dirt track to return it ...

Packing

... paper, crayons, markers, a parachute, cd's, bean bags, baseball gloves and balls, popsicle sticks, and there's even extra money to just give to people as the Lord shows. I'm really thankful to all that have contributed... very cool. And thank you for all the graduation gifts. I do realize that I am extremely blessed. Gracias para todas. Amorte, Heidi Marie --> Please pray for safe travel and a centered heart.

Bus banter

... like a 'Maui Waui' which was sublime of course. Andris hasn't shut up about it since. Happy days. Within minutes of arriving at the bus station in LA, Marco came roaring into the carpark in his mighty American V8 SUV thingy. We introduced ourselves, loaded 'the trunk' with our bags and climbed up into the cockpit. The thing's on steroids I kid you not, but it'll make for one long comfortable road trip across Nevada..

Surfing Huntington Beach

If you've ever seen the recent popular american tv show ''The OC'', this place looks exactly like the beach side in many of the scenes. Many popular surf shops nearby like Billabong and Hurley, a long peir streching out over the water with restaurants and stores on the end, expensive parkinglots close to the shore, tonnes of people tanning surfing and playing in the sand, and large sidewalks on the beach to walk, skateboard, jog, bike and inline skate on.

... for 2 reasons, one cos mr johnny depp owns it and the other which i suppose it is most famous for, very sadly cos that is where the rather lovely 'river phoenix' died, him bein someone i just loved as i kid i did pay me respects whilst we stood there, we all wanted to go in but luckily for our wallets it was shut as it is about $40 to get in and gosh that's expensive! so after a sight seein filled day we headed back to the hostel, where we watched alot ...

Arrival in LA and Now Traveling By Myself

... up with Ami at the Airport and wont see here for another couple of weeks until I arrive in Edinburgh! I have had another interesting Backpack experience, so far its one for every time I fly. On the last night it Waikiki, we had a big party as about 10 people were leaving the Hostel early that morning. It was great fun, and I will post some photos next time I get a chance! Everything was great except that I can't remember getting back to the hostel or even ...

A week in America....Vegas, G.Canyon...

... to be able to go to the Grand Canyon and it totally blew me away. We arrived there at lunchtime as it took about an hour from Williams and left around sunset but by that time the sky wasn't very clear so we were glad we had seen it earlier in the day. The photos do not do it justice at all, its impossible to capture the sheer magnitude and beauty of the place. After another night in Williams, we drove back to Vegas, spent one night there and left ...
