Mount Vernon, Virginia, United States jackies-world... 10 days. With them we will visit the Serengeti,
Zanzibar, and Ngorongoro Crater. At some point, we might try and hike
some of Kilimanjaro, since we're in the area, and also go on a safari
for a few days. This will bring us up to about the 25th of March, which
is as much as we know for sure at this point.
I'll post as soon as we have definite plans,

... that are off-limit to civilians. I had noticed the time I went to the Airport in Ottawa that the GPS wanted me to take roads that were restricted to Airport staff. It did the same to me today. The shortest and fastest way to get to the Museum was through the Airport. It didn't matter to the Security guard how much I pleaded that I had to follow directions from my GPS, he wouldn't let me through. I ended up taking a ...
Dulles, Virginia, United States cobra1899... Angeles, CA August 7: Fly from Los Angeles, CA to Bangkok December 19: Fly from Bangkok to Washington DC As usual, we have no itinerary and no plans. Though our flight does arrive at 11pm in Bangkok, so we'll probably make reservations (ohhhh I don't like that word!) for the first nights lodging. Any tips or recommendations? Please send them our way! Cheers, Kay
Burke, Virginia, United States slipperycoconut... know somehow I ended up most of the night attempting to sort through my abuelita's things - her clothing, notes, all the pieces of her that surrounded me in her room (once my room). I looked upon it all, searching for I don't know what until about 5 AM. I learned some things through the Spanish and handwriting that I could translate, and discovered many hats that I enjoyed. In the back of my mind, always, was her health and her being and what losing her ...

But she is absolutely brilliant, so I'm not sure you can hold condescension against her too much. Col. Washington, District of Columbia, United States keeves15... price! a big Ford F-150! (see the pic). It was actually great driving in a huge truck like that, too bad it's too big for Isreal's parking spaces :( . The guys forgot their driving licenses back in the lodging so I was destined to be the only driver for the long 3 hour trip. And I forgot to mention Ernesto, the tropical storm that was in Virginia at the time, and was supposed to head north to Washington, meaning we were going to have a very stormy stay ...
Washington DC, District of Columbia, United States shim... to be all over me. I just kind of nod and smile. It's too much pressure. I'm trying not to have any kind of expectations, that way I won't be disappointed. I just want to go and be. I don't want to have that idea that this is supposed to be like the best experience of my life hanging over my head, especially if I'm having a bad day or something. I think everyone else is more excited about this than me...am I that jaded? ...It probably just hasn't sunk in yet.
