Historical Traveler Reviews Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Calgary Airport

      NIce Place

      from

This is an excellent, clean place to stay. The staff was very accomodating and helpful.

      Loved It

      from

The reviews here are spot on. This is a well run, clean hotel.

We planned a one night stay at the end of the holiday, but flight cancellations resulted in it becoming three. Certainly the hotel made this enforced delay as comfortable as possible, and at a good price.

Our only complaints were finding the place - you can see it, but getting to it is a different matter!!!

Also a weekend womans basball team decided to spend nights in the adjacent room, which because it had an adjoining door made it rather noisy, until I shouted back!

As mentioned elsewhere, a little way out of town, but because Calgary itself is not a strong tourist location (or are we just getting old?), the three day layover took some filling until my wife rediscovered retail therapy after three weeks travelling.

Definitely recommended, though cannot comment if it is typical of the chain.

      Great Hotel

      from

My husband and I were on a long vacation to Alberta, Canada & western Montana and spent our first night here. It was a very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious & very clean, the front desk staff was very helpful and the breakfast bar was great. I would definitely stay here again. We really love this hotel chain and wish there were more of them!

      Fabulous!

      from

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, spacious, beautifully decorated room with a separate bedrm & living room - 2 TVs too! Fresh cookies, coffee, tea always available as well as a lending library. Nice pool area. Breakfast buffet was substantial with lots of choices. This is a hotel which really succeeds at taking care of you well. We had a rental car to return to the Calgary Airport before our flight & it was as easy as could be since it is just a few minutes drive from the airport - but not to worry, we never heard any planes or anything else in our sound-proofed room! We'd stay here again in a flash!

Have Them Show You the Door

      from

The decor in the suite was very attractive, above average even for a Country Inn. But the best thing about the suite was the inner door to the bedroom. It sounds like a simple idea, but many suite hotels, and even Country Inns, don't have one. It helped keep noise, light (and possibly smoke, too) from infiltrating in from the corridor. Perhaps because of it, the sleeping area was exceptionally quiet. The hotel is near the airport, so don't expect much from the neighborhood. The view to the south is of a Burger King and a Hampton Inn. The only gripe I had about the stay was that a busload of seniors completely overwhelmed the breakfast area in the morning, taking up all the tables and turning the place into a noisy zoo. But on the whole, an excellent value and definitely worth considering.

      Exceptional value for money

      from

Just returned from a two week trip around the Rockies. And we stayed here for our last night before flying back to London from Calgary airport. It was the cheapest place we stayed and one of the best. Great value for money. And they even included a pretty decent continental breakfast (including cook your own waffles). The hotel was spotlessly clean and very quiet, considering its location; it's ideally sitiuated for the airport. Although it's about a 10 - 15 min drive from downtown, but that wasn't a problem.

The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. And it's the first hotel where I've ever seen a cookie jar on the reception desk where guests are invited to take a cookie or two (or three or four) to go with a coffee or tea. They also had a fairly late check out time of 12.00pm, which was useful for us.

      First Night in Calgary

      from

We found this hotel to be a welcome start to our holiday in Canada and stayed for two nights. It was close to the airport, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. A buffet breakfast was included in the price of the room. There was a swimming pool which was also very clean and free to use.

A member of staff suggested driving to a nearby shopping mall and taking the transit to downtown. This was easier than driving into a busy city and only cost two dollars.

We would certainly stay here again if visiting Calgary.

      Squeeky Clean!

      from

I visited in September 2004 for business (big group).

Room: Spacious, quiet, comfortable. What I most remember tho was how clean my room was! I was sooo impressed! I could eat off the bathtub.

Staff: Friendly. At the front desk they exchanged USD to CAD for us and gladly helped us get taxis. Every afternoon I'd get back to my room, everything would be perfectly in place. I brought my teddy with me (yeah, I know...I'm 23) and they would put him on the chair, or on my bed, which was so special to me.

Breakfast: Cereals, muffins, and much much more. Definately enough to fill you up. I would usually get down there late and wouldn't have time to eat so I don't quite remember what else they had since I was always on the go. But I do remember them having a large variety.

There was also restaurants within walking distance.

      Excellent Choice

      from

You can't go wrong if you choose this hotel in Calgary. The value is astounding and the place is ultra clean. We had a large room with two queen beds and the room came with a refrigerator, microwave, iron and ironing board. This hotel is near the Calgary airport but the soundproofing is wonderful and we had a very quiet night's rest. Highly recommend!

      Excellent value, convenient location

      from

We stayed here for 4-nights in April 2005. The hotel was convenient to the airport, the city proper and highways but very quiet and comfortable. There is ample free parking and a Chilis restaurant and Burger King adjacent to the hotel.

We had a suite that was roomy and with a separate bedroom, two tvs and good workspace. The living/workspace area didn't have any outside light but there are 3 lamps that lit up the area fine.

The fridge and microwave were useful. The free breakfast is ample and had food at anytime through the opening hours (we ate early and late).

The pool was reasonable for a hotel and the gym small but good equipment that was hardly ever in use by other guests. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

I would stay here again if I was visiting Calgary and had my own transportation to get around.

... This was just a desk and people were waiting all around. In Australia your haemoglobin level is checked when you go into the room to go over the questionnaire and have your blood pressure checked.

      Stage 3
I filled out the questionnaire (I actually did this incorrectly as I ticked the boxes and the form asked for the boxes to be shaded) then put my little number on the pile at the front of the waiting room. I held onto my questionnaire.

This play area was EXACTLY 10 STEPS from the bathroom that we used 5 weeks ago. Instead of a quiet sit down with my honey over a month ago…I was racing around the airport chasing our little Houdini as she figured out Bob Jr.’s escape hatch! I COULD HAVE BEEN SITTING RE-HYDRATING….!!!

I must say, researching this and trying to understand the system, which isn't insanely different to ours, just more expensive and with different names, made me miss the familiarity of Combank.

I must just say the lady that assisted me was lovely, she immigrated here herself, so knew my position well and made me feel at ease when I had to ask what would have been basic questions, but ...
