We were all tired so we slept late and spent most of the morning repacking all of our stuff. We checked out about noon and ate lunch in Banff at Tony Romas. After we finished eating we did some last minute souvenir shopping and then headed back to Calgary. We checked into our hotel and rested up a bit and then went to supper. We went swimming for a …
The roads were great and we made good time to Calgary from the Hat. We then spent several hours trying to find new sandals for Dave with no success. He did however find some other shoes and some missing nic nacs for the trip. Another excellent meal at Chili's behind the hotel. Then offs to bed early for our 3:30 wakeup call - aaggghh.
Mexico here we come . . .
So 3:30 start to catch the shuttle at 4:50. Zipped through check-in and security. Then we wait for 2 1/2 hours for boarding. We met up with seven other people from the Hat on our shuttle (one that went to school with Cytrina - small world).
Don't know what the Internet availability will be in Mexico but we will try to update when we can. Take care and see you soon.
So, the reason that the flights were delayed by 2 hours was that the radar in Edmonton went a little haywire this morning, so they were only letting flights from Calgary leave every 7 minutes. This meant that even though the morning plane left the gate pretty much on time (had some minor technical difficulties that had to be fixed prior to boarding …
... not suited for the faint of heart or anyone who is afraid of heights it is a very narrow windy road that goes up and up and up then of course down you go. The glaciers, creeks, canyons all stunning so difficult to describe the power and strength. I've added a few photo's which don't really show it off but the best I could do. We have both decided that next year we will budget more time so that we can add a hike and lunch in the glacier ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Calgary Airport
This is an excellent, clean place to stay. The staff was very accomodating and helpful.
The reviews here are spot on. This is a well run, clean hotel.
My husband and I were on a long vacation to Alberta, Canada & western Montana and spent our first night here. It was a very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious & very clean, the front desk staff was very helpful and the breakfast bar was great. I would definitely stay here again. We really love this hotel chain and wish there were more of them!
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, spacious, beautifully decorated room with a separate bedrm & living room - 2 TVs too! Fresh cookies, coffee, tea always available as well as a lending library. Nice pool area. Breakfast buffet was substantial with lots of choices. This is a hotel which really succeeds at taking care of you well. We had a rental car to return to the Calgary Airport before our flight & it was as easy as could be since it is just a few minutes drive from the airport - but not to worry, we never heard any planes or anything else in our sound-proofed room! We'd stay here again in a flash!
The decor in the suite was very attractive, above average even for a Country Inn. But the best thing about the suite was the inner door to the bedroom. It sounds like a simple idea, but many suite hotels, and even Country Inns, don't have one. It helped keep noise, light (and possibly smoke, too) from infiltrating in from the corridor. Perhaps because of it, the sleeping area was exceptionally quiet. The hotel is near the airport, so don't expect much from the neighborhood. The view to the south is of a Burger King and a Hampton Inn. The only gripe I had about the stay was that a busload of seniors completely overwhelmed the breakfast area in the morning, taking up all the tables and turning the place into a noisy zoo. But on the whole, an excellent value and definitely worth considering.
Just returned from a two week trip around the Rockies. And we stayed here for our last night before flying back to London from Calgary airport. It was the cheapest place we stayed and one of the best. Great value for money. And they even included a pretty decent continental breakfast (including cook your own waffles). The hotel was spotlessly clean and very quiet, considering its location; it's ideally sitiuated for the airport. Although it's about a 10 - 15 min drive from downtown, but that wasn't a problem.
First Night in Calgary
We found this hotel to be a welcome start to our holiday in Canada and stayed for two nights. It was close to the airport, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. A buffet breakfast was included in the price of the room. There was a swimming pool which was also very clean and free to use.
A member of staff suggested driving to a nearby shopping mall and taking the transit to downtown. This was easier than driving into a busy city and only cost two dollars.
We would certainly stay here again if visiting Calgary.
You can't go wrong if you choose this hotel in Calgary. The value is astounding and the place is ultra clean. We had a large room with two queen beds and the room came with a refrigerator, microwave, iron and ironing board. This hotel is near the Calgary airport but the soundproofing is wonderful and we had a very quiet night's rest. Highly recommend!
We stayed here for 4-nights in April 2005. The hotel was convenient to the airport, the city proper and highways but very quiet and comfortable. There is ample free parking and a Chilis restaurant and Burger King adjacent to the hotel.
