... lose a life. The beauty of this trip is that we will be able to share the wonderful child travelling experiences with friends. Mel and Duncan are travelling with us on the same flights with their two children Henry and Penny in tow. I hope we are all still friends once we arrive. If not, beer and ocean will mend any fences. Apparently this bloggy-ma-doodle is easy to update, and there is an "App" as well for ...

... the weather and are enjoying every bit of what Calgary has to offer. ONE THING IS CLEAR - these people know how to get things done! It is mind boggling to know that just 3 weeks ago, the town, the Calgary Stampede grounds and half the city were under as much as 15 feet of water and you would ABSOLUTELY not know it! They banded together in record numbers and it shows!
We ate breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express in Airdrie where we checked in on-line for our flights later that day. We were all disappointed to learn that Air Transat were using an older A330 plane so we wouldn't have the individual seat back monitor or I-Pod chargers in the seats.
After check-out we all went to Cross Iron Mills to look around the stores before heading to the airport. We decided to eat lunch at ...

Finding a like minded activity crowd is not easy. And don't I know that it is better to have a happy man far away than a grumpy one sitting beside you. We hang up with promises to call later after meetings, but by dark still no message or call, ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Calgary Airport
This is an excellent, clean place to stay. The staff was very accomodating and helpful.
The reviews here are spot on. This is a well run, clean hotel.
My husband and I were on a long vacation to Alberta, Canada & western Montana and spent our first night here. It was a very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious & very clean, the front desk staff was very helpful and the breakfast bar was great. I would definitely stay here again. We really love this hotel chain and wish there were more of them!
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, spacious, beautifully decorated room with a separate bedrm & living room - 2 TVs too! Fresh cookies, coffee, tea always available as well as a lending library. Nice pool area. Breakfast buffet was substantial with lots of choices. This is a hotel which really succeeds at taking care of you well. We had a rental car to return to the Calgary Airport before our flight & it was as easy as could be since it is just a few minutes drive from the airport - but not to worry, we never heard any planes or anything else in our sound-proofed room! We'd stay here again in a flash!
The decor in the suite was very attractive, above average even for a Country Inn. But the best thing about the suite was the inner door to the bedroom. It sounds like a simple idea, but many suite hotels, and even Country Inns, don't have one. It helped keep noise, light (and possibly smoke, too) from infiltrating in from the corridor. Perhaps because of it, the sleeping area was exceptionally quiet. The hotel is near the airport, so don't expect much from the neighborhood. The view to the south is of a Burger King and a Hampton Inn. The only gripe I had about the stay was that a busload of seniors completely overwhelmed the breakfast area in the morning, taking up all the tables and turning the place into a noisy zoo. But on the whole, an excellent value and definitely worth considering.
Just returned from a two week trip around the Rockies. And we stayed here for our last night before flying back to London from Calgary airport. It was the cheapest place we stayed and one of the best. Great value for money. And they even included a pretty decent continental breakfast (including cook your own waffles). The hotel was spotlessly clean and very quiet, considering its location; it's ideally sitiuated for the airport. Although it's about a 10 - 15 min drive from downtown, but that wasn't a problem.
First Night in Calgary
We found this hotel to be a welcome start to our holiday in Canada and stayed for two nights. It was close to the airport, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. A buffet breakfast was included in the price of the room. There was a swimming pool which was also very clean and free to use.
A member of staff suggested driving to a nearby shopping mall and taking the transit to downtown. This was easier than driving into a busy city and only cost two dollars.
We would certainly stay here again if visiting Calgary.
You can't go wrong if you choose this hotel in Calgary. The value is astounding and the place is ultra clean. We had a large room with two queen beds and the room came with a refrigerator, microwave, iron and ironing board. This hotel is near the Calgary airport but the soundproofing is wonderful and we had a very quiet night's rest. Highly recommend!
We stayed here for 4-nights in April 2005. The hotel was convenient to the airport, the city proper and highways but very quiet and comfortable. There is ample free parking and a Chilis restaurant and Burger King adjacent to the hotel.
