... in such desperation. The other similarity Italy has with France is the language. The words are similar, which means it is easier to understand. Italy has a lot of English translations too which is another aid in our travel. We spent the morning and early afternoon wandering the narrow side streets. Even the backstreets seemed full of tourist shops, selling art, Venetian glass, Italian leather and face masks. We found a couple of stores selling wooden oars and parts of gondola ...

... belts and yet were still blown away with the entrance to the city. We attempted to find the shop we bought my necklaces from but to no avail. Gone somewhere in the city.

We crossed the famous Rialto bridge that you see in all the movies and photos of Venice. Someone dropped ice cream on me.. It was magnificent. :/

... short as the gondeliers didn't like the (potential ) weather, wind and rain, and were more concerned about staying dry than with making money.

The rain just about held off till as we returned to the hotel. The rain was increasing in intensity, so opted for the pink thongs, poncho and umbrella. Paul didn't think he'd need his poncho........ serious miscalculation. The heavens opened, so much so that I carried rather than draged my suitcase! Boy ...
