... us. My legs nearly gave ip. Left over soreness from yesterday I think. The art work here is amazing. No pictures allowed so cannot show you. The domes are so high and it is incredible to think that it was designed and built in the 1200's. Assisi would be very quiet and peaceful place except for the millions of visitors each year to see the Basilica and the burial place of St Francis. I m excited because tomorrow we are off to ...

... recognize our surnames. Note to self buy tickets online directly from trenitalia next time. We did however make the 1238 train to Rome Termini. Tickets in hand we now had to find the train for Assisi. We had done some research and thought it we needed to find track 1. We headed there in a long narrow passageway and while perusing a train schedule were approached by a young girl who offered to help. She did take us to track 1 ( at a much too fast pace since we had over an ...

... the town are those belonging to residents. We parked at the bottom and hitched a ride on the funicular. I love these!

Upon reaching the top, we walked to an overlook from the ancient castle walls. The entire valley spread out before us, farm plots in front, misty mountains in the back. I was enthralled and could have spent the entire day right there in that very spot! However, there were other sights to see...
