... I’ve had strangers offer their seat, collect tissues for me once when Will got sick (admittedly not a fun experience), given us candies, snacks, fruit and once a US dollar bill (that was a bit strange). However, mostly they offer smiles and reassurances that we are in fact welcome here. So, I will continue to prefer public transportation even if it may be quicker to venture by car. ... found from a meetup.com group who had a hiking day planned. We took the bus all the way up to station 5 (the highest you could get transportation to). This is usually where people start their climb to the top. However, with it being out of season, we opted for a hike around the upper part of the mountain and were rewarded with amazing views of both Mt. Fuji and some of the 5 lakes during the autumn. I took way to many pictures but just found ...

Today at breakfast we were seated at the other side of the room where the printed placements reflected the names of the towers we could view. Yesterday's placements depicted that view and we pity the poor trainee who might muck the placemats up! After receiving such attention to her personal meal requirements, they must have been happy to wave Naomi off. Just as well we still had Kaoru (our guide) to help us navigate our way to Shinjuku station, though the unforgiving ticket gates ...
