... to make it to Florida quicker. This of course was sparked by having to listen to the children ask us every 5 minutes how much longer we had to drive to get to the "camp fire." Overall they were very well behaved. It is really hard to sit in the car for 10+ hours. What did our parents do when they couldn't hand us Kindles or turn on a movie?
The weather was beautiful. As was the scenery. We saw many farms and fields. We also saw many "adult entertainment" stores. Like A LOT! ...
... and we knew we were going to wait until we got to South Carolina to buy gas. In the past we had always filled the tank up in Kinston on our return trip but with gas so expensive we decided to wait. Glad we did. As he drove I searched for campgrounds in the midst of failing internet signals. I called Santee Lakes in Summerton, SC and they said they had lots of openings. Scary but I went on and made the reservations for two nights ...
... when it is busy making ice. If I had known that, I would have filled the tub with ice after my shower. Lol
I brought a couple of pair of earplugs with me so with earplugs and a pillow over my head, I got a reasonable nights sleep.
We left this morning around 9:10. It was only 5 degrees this morning ... Chilly!! Dark clouds were looming overhead as we left Ashville. Apparently snow was on it's way... Glad we were moving south :). It's a lovely sunny day - not a cloud in the sky. Had a picnic lunch at a rest area near Newberry - 17 degrees. Arrived ...
We left Raleigh this morning and are heading south. We stopped in at North Carolina that was so cool, they were selling fireworks in the servo!! The also had a fireworks supermarket!! We only had half an hour there but we ran into this souvenir store and it was massive! Then we drove to charleston for lunch, I had a pulled pork sandwich it was so good, I've never had pork so tender in my life! Then we had a wander around the market and got soaking wet, it has been raining all ...
