    After breakfast and bike riding around the campground loop, we drove into Hannibal, the town where Samuel Langhorn Clemens (Mark Twain) spent his childhood years. We ate at the Mark Twain diner (where the kids enjoyed homemade root beer!), then walked up 244 stairs to see a lighthouse perched on the side of a hill. It was a lovely climb and offered views of the Mississippi River (it really is MUDDY!!) and Hannibal.

    ... She had this amazing dog (a Chihuahua mix) that did really impressive tricks. We took a look at the state park resort on premises (with an outdoor pool & general store), and rode on a section of the bike trail (which was made up of loose gravel – TERRIBLE for biking, but probably the cheapest option).
