Winston-Salem was originally settled by religious "refugees" called Moravians in the mid-1700’s, so there is a lot of interesting colonial history and architecture here. It is also home to the Reynolds Tobacco empire (it only just dawned on me where the cigarette brand names "Winston" and "Salem" came from!).
