... Laclede whose landing on the riverside the placename commemorates. Further down the river, where the Arch stands is where Mr Laclede set up the settlement of St Louis.
We walked on to Broadway where we got brekkie. Just as we were about to leave the heavens opened. It was like nothing we'd ever seen before, but apparently they get extremes quite regularly. After the rain had stopped and the thunder moved on we walked to the arch.

... had a nice dinner in Lincoln, Nebraska. Our first driver, Kent left us in Nebraska, where George took over. He drove us until Cheyanne, where our final driver, Kathy, took over. She will be with us all week, and to begin our journey home to St. Louis.

... was to arrive on the riverfront in St Louis before 12 noon and take a bus tour of St Louis which I did. The bus tour lasted 1 1/2 hrs and showed a lot of the attractions/museums/history etc and was good value for the money. A lot of the museums, attractions and the Zoo are free of charge to get in. ... hit i55 again, we went through a sudden change in temperate where our windscreen instantly misted over. The temperature jumped up to 85f!!!!!! Air con on, cruise control on, and sunnies on! We eventually arrived in St Louis at our hotel The Omni Majestic at 6pm. Valet parking $25 a night. Our room is really nice. It's a boutique style hotel. Only unusual thing about the room is the landline phone mounted on the wall right next to the toilet! Ewwwwww We quickly freshened ...

I went into the Old Courthouse, mainly to look at the building, though there was some information on Dred and Harriet Scott who I had heard about quite a lot during my time in St Louis but wasn't really sure who they were. Turns out they were 2 slaves who had sued for their freedom in this courthouse and after a long convaluted courtcase which went to the supreme court were told as they were black they had not legal rights. ...
