Left Glenorie for wild weekend ride to cover a number of well reputed bike roads on the central north coast. Up to Newcastle, then off main highway to Bucketts Way. Nice ride up to Goulborn. Passed by Riverwood Downs where family has stayed 15 years ago! Also passed by Goulborn Hospital were we learned about bullrout-stonefish poisons.....
... got us quite a way down the road. We stopped off at Taree for lunch and found a great little spot in town for a healthy lunch, which can be sometimes difficult to find. After a short drive we arrived in Port Macquarie mid-afternoon to yet another lovely spot on the water. This time it was a big 4 park so a lot bigger and more vans, but still, nice enough and a great location, right in the middle of town.
I decided I wanted to cook dinner ...
So it has just ticked over three weeks since we left home and weirdly it hasn't quite sunk in yet that we are travelling yet. I'm not to sure why but one of the reasons could be the people that we have visited along the way. This is not a bad thin, this is a better than good thing, it is so good to see how much family we have that are happy to give us a bed for a night or even just to have a meal with.
Even since the start we had family ...
... in serious danger of passing out. At one stage, I got one of the straps of my backpack tangled in my bike chain (brilliant cyclist that I am) and was amazed at how helpful four strangers were in giving me a hand! It's true, the moment you leave Sydney, everyone becomes lovely! I was so grateful for their help, mostly because I wasn't expecting it!
Two hours later and half-dead, I arrived at the beach and saw to my amazement, a trail of camels ...
... By 4pm the ferry was back in operation and we decided to cross and take up accommodation on the other side so that we wouldn't have any problems catching our flight out on Wednesday as more bad weather could be on its way. We had no idea our holiday would end in such a way but what an adventure! We had such a memorable vacation and wouldn't change a thing. We are safe, happy, and are taking with us so many happy memories but we can't wait to get home to see all our loved ones and ...
