im not a hosteller and, im beginning to realise, a true bakcpacker in the hostelling sense of the word.. im not being spoilt or handbagesque or picky or snobby. hostels just suck. and so do lots and lots of the people (teenagers) who stay in them and just show zero consideration for anyone else in the place (*more on this later). they suck so bad that i dont ever want to stay in one again (even though i know im going to have to as i cant afford anything else.) but for tonight at least ive che...

... They sound like they are and they are everywhere. As the sun went down, I could see them all fly away in huge groups!

It is only 7:30pm and I am not sure what I am going to do for the rest of the night. I don't want to wander around town at night because I will surely get lost! Maybe tomorrow night I will venture out. I am getting picked up bright and early for a tour out to the Great Barrier Reef tomorrow!!

Cairns, Queensland, Australia lorraine11... place to end the Oz Exp when everyone has no money! We've been having free meals every evening...on Sunday we managed to have 3 dinners at 3 different places...all free!!!! First was Spag Bol, then a hot dog and then chicken satay!! It's great as we haven't needed to cook at all! I've been really lazy with cooking while in Oz...on Magnetic Island Lizzy and I both loved tuna and cooked veg wraps so had that for lunch and ...
cairns, Queensland, Australia annaobeirne... a foot tall. After a couple of days we went on a boat trip to the Great Barrier reef, due to some complications the company we booked with had to upgrade us to there more expensive vessel, where we got a fantastic meal, live music, complimentary wine and suba dived for free. We were told that we could not tell any other passengers how much we paid around 100 dollars as the other passengers paid the correct amount around 300 dollars. The snorkeling was ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia mattmcgivern... early on in the trip (sorry Vix). As the cyclone passed us, the rain came pouring down and there was nothing left to do but drink. It was Frans b'day the next day so we felt it was time to celebrate. We ended up in a bar and started on the beers: after a few we realised that there were alot of men in the bar and very few women. Furthermore the men could dance (one had a rather nice ballet/street dance thing ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia joannesharpe... I made it back to the resort in the late afternoon to find I had a room-mate, Jeremy had “crossed the ditch” that is the Tasman Sea from New Zealand and would be another of my tour mates for the next few weeks. We headed down to the outside bar and watched some of the nightly activities the resort put on – tonight was Two-Up and cane toad racing. The bloke from the hotel who explained the history and rules behind these past-times ...
