... what I was supposed to do. Kari, in charge of shift assignments, still had no idea what she wanted me to do. As i met some of the managers, one person turned and said,"I know that voice!" It was a man named Seaton whom i had waited on a couple of times right before leaving the Yard House a few weeks earlier. He loved the ribs and had them four times on his visit to the island with his wife, Wendy, and two daughters. It just showed how small the world is, they work full time ...

Leaving tomorrow

... 3hour trip to Sydney, and lunch at Prue-dee's with the family. Though before then, I need to try and squeeze my life into a 65L pack for under 23kg - hmm...that will be interesting. For now I need to stop procrastinating and get some things done. Argh. How super exciting! I will be missing everybody lots! So, be sure to keep me posted on what's happening. My number will be coming around soon, as will the postage address - so send me messages & letters please! :) xx

... into a wide, newly laid gravel road, leading to a fire emergency centre and which after 6 miles ran into a country, rough gravel track. The new gravel had several small kangaroos, 'joeys', the sad roadkill victims at the side of the road. We 'progressed' slowly round hills, through cattle grids and over a few tiny creeks. The hillsides were very brown and dry and it was hard to see how they were supporting the few ...

Propping Up The Bar

... memoriblia in the main corridor. Back in the Commercial, which I must say is a very friendly and compact bar, I was soon talking to Mick, a local, about the merits of British versus NSW raliway signalling. Mick was hard to understand, he had a thick accent (and this after a few beers), and was spitting image of Trevor, my neighbor in the UK. Soon after the ambience was shattered as the pub was invaded by dozens of schoolgirls (and boys), apparently the ...

Climb every mountain

... where we could see a rock formation called the Three Sisters with clouds floating over it - beautiful. Then we went to Scenic world where we went on the steepest funculair in the world. Steep doesn't begin to describe it, we have never been so scared!! (or glad to be in a caged roofed vehicle). We then walked through the forest at the bottom, where the coal mine used to be - fighting Asian-tour-bus-hoards all the way! We came back up by ...

Sole and me spent everyday walking, and doing hiking trails. it was incredible, the views were awesome and there were loads of waterfalls and animals. I met lots of cool people, and had a really good time. I even got into a fridge! The hostel we ...

Blue Mountains Part 1

... to the pub the balls stopped rolling on the poole table and the darts stopped flying mid air and chap in a stetson and long straggly hair said "scho then folkshs, been in town lawng?". Now how the deuce did he know we weren't locals? We pitched up at our campsite and settled in for the night having negotiated our curtain hanging abilities and tiny bed making skills whilst sat on said tiny bed area. Its all good though as once the drivers seat is pushed right forwards ...

Blue Mountains

After an extremely uncomfortable 13hr overnight bus journey from Byron Bay (with very little sleep), we arrived in Sydney and got the train to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. After a quick power nap we headed off on our first walk along one of the mountain ridges. We started off at Katoomba Falls, which, unfortunately, were barely more than a trickle due to the drought. It was then onto the scenic skyway cable car for a short journey ...

Walking off some of that christmas indulgence!

... around the olympic village, which is pretty impressive. Another demonstration of the Aussie's commitment towards sport and a healthy lifestyle. Having over-indulged over Christmas and also with the impending thought of having to 'hangout' on Bondi Beach, we welcome the opportunity for a bit of exercise. Weaving our way through the hoards of crowds on the ...
