          We're not in Kansas anymore

A travel blog entry by jason934 on Oct 02, 2015

Our stay in Wichita was just an overnight ear to break up a long drive into Texas. After breakfast we sorted out some money, had a look at the Michaels and Pet Smart stores in Wichita then hit the road at 11:30am towards Fort Worth, Texas. Again the scenery was pretty flat and uninteresting until a few hills and lakes popped up close to Fort Worth. I filled the car for the first time today and it cost just $29 to fill the tank from below the last quarter (13.5 gallons ...

          Start of road trip

It's the start of our road trip. First stop is Wichita, Kansas. We headed off on our adventure at 1pm after shopping at Michaels, Petco, Walmart and Target in Omaha. We left a little later than hoped but didn't mind provided we arrived in Wichita before dark. The road trip went smoothly with no issues and we arrived at 5:45pm after our 4 hour 45 minute drive. The ...

It is what it is, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

We both managed to get ...

... one. As visitors passing through, we got our news mainly from the local paper, and this is a hot topic. And that's the 'plane' truth.

As for the city itself, we mainly drove through the revitalized downtown area, something that we are getting used to seeing everywhere we have traveled on this trip. It seems that most cities have taken steps to reclaim older or rundown areas, filling them with pubs, restos, museums, galleries, etc, ...

Always fun to spend time with family. Our first night on vacation was with family in my hometown of Wichita. We were surprised with a good-old fashioned fish fry prepared by my Aunt Betty and Aunt Darlene. My grand mother was there as well. Good food and family - can't beat ...
