... to rain. It didn’t but nor did the wind let up. It was howling off Lake Superior when I got there and the waves were crashing onto the shore. Nothing placid about it! Anyway, I found a spot about 1/2 an hour north of Duluth to hunker down for the night.

... we made it to the cabin and showed everyone but made him a bed of grass and leaves and gave him a dish of water for the night. Thankfully the turtle seemed unharmed and moving happily the next morning when he was actually let go!
The cabin near Lake Superior (just beyond Tofte for those that want to know) is beautiful. Within a stones throw of the lake itself and lots of beds for the 20 odd family who are here with us. It reminds me a bit of a ski lodge, all open two stories ...
Saturday we could walk from our campground at the docks to the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center the museum which is operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The museum is located near the Aerial Lift Bridge (see video) which overlooks the entrance to the Duluth-Superior harbor.

We finished driving on highway 2 as far as it would go. Right into Duluth and Lake Superior.
