New place new friends. Fortaleza was cool because right when I got there we went out. Some Chileans brought a big bottle of pisco and before you know it we all were riding happy on the way to pink elephant. It's a popular expensive night club they have here in Brazil. Anyways the next several days it was pretty much the same. Fortaleza to me seems a little rough and unsafe. I'll admit I had a good time here and my portuguese is getting ...

... on some silly strong caprihinihas and wine again. In the evening we were meeting Alice's Aussie mate Meals - there was some confusion over the meeting place (what we thought was a cool Zumba class / party, but turned out to be a straightforward hour exercise class in a church hall for locals) so we headed to the beach bars of Copacabana instead. ... and the Ivory Coasters shaping up here in Fortaleza. Back in the days before environmental correctness, an ivory coaster was something that you set your drink on. Now they are here kicking ball with the Spartans and Athenians of the Peloponnese peninsula. Get this about the Greeks; Three World Cup Finals and 2 goals scored. On this day they would double that tally courtesy of a sketchy penalty 3 minutes into extra time. Despite the stakes ...

... of room to sit. After exploring a little bit around the local area we'd found a small pretty deserted beach, a slightly busier stretch of beach and then the fan park. Most of the people around were German supporters (not surprising as Germany were based pretty much in the north east and it was a Germany game in Fortaleza that day) with the odd Ghanaian thrown in creating some atmosphere. A bit of food and we were ready to get to the game. One thing about ...
