Madeira to Puerto Mogan, Gran Canaria
Madeira is magical! A wonderful, luscious and calm island open to explorers and botanical enthusiasts alike. Quite a contrasting island to the other Canary islands which are fairly baron and dark, Maderia is bright, green and buzzing with natural life. Leaving that behind on the morning of Wednesday 19th September we set off briskly in a well fuelled and provisioned Taboo for a three day sail to Gran Canaria (where she'd been 5 years previously).

Chillin on the Beach in Africa - Almost...
My very last European mini-vacation was to Playa del Ingles, Canary Islands! My friend Leigh and I went in celebration of the end of her semester! I had just got back from chilly Amsterdam and she just got back from Liverpool so we thought it was definitely time for the beach!

Hols with the Family
... quite amazing how tired you can get doing absolutely nothing!! The weather has been just about perfect, mid 20's, sunny and a cooling breeze. There was a little rain this morning but by 11am it had gone and it wasn't heavy in the first place.
We have also had some great meals with our old favourite 'Canarios 1' at Aquinequin, being the standout meal so far.

Seriously, we wanted to chill for the New Year ...
... more than one rental location, [none of the big names as they all had no cars available!!!] and it seems that every guy in Gran Canaria who hires cars and who is not working for the big rentals is called Pepe. This stark assumption based on a rather low incidence count but nevertheless, based on our experience, it leads to suggest that a least the majority are called Pepe!!!
