If you wish to organise Singapore paperwork in advance, you must be prepared to spend much longer in Malaysia. Also avoid public holidays which will further delay issues. We discover that Singapore has a National holiday on Monday (a Muslim festival but applicable to all Singaporeans) and that all government offices will be closed.

We managed to get a half decent breakfast at the hotel and then off to pound the pavement. Boy, it is so hot and humid that when I took the first couple of photos they were blurry. The lens was covered in condensation!. Stores don't open until later in the morning which seemed quite strange walking through a mall at 9.30am. A few hours later, a few km away, we crossed another major road and again negotiated and invisible border leading into Chinatown. Gone were the dark faces and the colourful saris. We were in now in China with 99% of the faces being Chinese and writing which now had changed to Chinese characters. Instantly the religions had changed again, first from Muslim to Hindu ...

There were stuff that was being used by the people from the past such as the certificate and the contract where the Singaporean's first president was being choose, the typewriter that was in Malay's letters, film player where the past was used to play video on the screen and also the vintage pick up disc was also being shown.
