... decided it was much too crowded for a lunch stop so we found a small café in one of the many narrow alleys. We enjoyed a fresh Caprese salad and mused that Taormina was worthy of a return vacation. Our shuttle bus took us back to the port for the ride by tender back to the Nieuw Amsterdam. We still had several hours until our scheduled 8:30 PM departure and planned to return to shore to visit an internet café but we weren’t up to the task! Instead we watched a ...

... tell why the rich and famous have houses here. After catching the ferry across to Sorrento back on the mainland and walking up 1000 steps to get to the bus we noticed that our token Asian Olivia wasn't with us. It was later discovered she didn't even get off the ferry and was heading back to Capri... Funny stuff Had dinner at a restaurant overlooking the bay of Naples. It had million dollar views and was all very impressive then shot back to the hotel for a recovery from the sun and ...

On Sunday, we rested and cooked and rested...... Paolo made Melanzane Parmeggiana and I made onion marmalade with the Tropea onions we received from Valle Verde. Buonissimo!

The boat docks at our rock beach and we board for our voyage to Capri. We watch the green sea and coast as we make our way over and cruise around Capri. The water is very choppy and tiny row boats are lined up outside the small entrance to the traffic-jammed blue grotto. It looks like it would be hours to get in if it is even possible. So unfortunately we miss this archaeological site. Our typical luck!

Today we went to Cefalu, a seaside town about an hour away from Palermo. Roads were once again very windy with lovely views. We walked into the main square, and saw the Norman cathedral which is still in use. Mass was on at 9.30 so we attended. There were a lot of children, and the priest then said that they were having first communion next Sunday. Quite a few of the tour group came, lots of Catholics we found out. ...
