La Paz Baja California Mexico, Mexico candicecushard Yesterday was Thanksgiving in San Francisco, Today, I’m meeting up with my Italian bareboat chartering companions to begin 1 week bareboat charter in the Sea of Cortez. We all arrived at Cabo San Lucas airport within 1 hour of each other. Upon renting a car we started our 3+ ride to La, Paz through the winding roads of the Baja Sur Desert. Upon arriving in La Paz we went straight to the Moorings base to get the keys to Explorer our Moorings 35.

... and slices it up still in the shell, laces it with chilli sauce and a scattering of salt and passes it over for our tasting pleasure. How fresh can you get? You know me and seafood, I was almost wetting myself with excitement. The clam flesh was tasty and succulent and the combined juices were a fishy taste explosion with a kick! This guy was a ******n hero.

We completed our circuit of the island and made it back to shore with just enough time for a couple ...

However that certainty quickly crumbled when we caught a glimpse of an upcoming, ostensibly deserted beach where Kerry spotted a group of guys all dressed in black that looked for all the world like terrorists.

At this stage there probably wasn’t a huge gap between how isolated we felt and how isolated we were. We had now driven for four hours into the middle of ...
La Ventana, Baja California Sur, Mexico jeznkez... perfect.

Then we got to chat with Beth for close to an hour on yahoo, and also visit with Dani Petterson a bit. Hard to say ‘Dani’ still – and she quickly corrected me when I asked if she was a junior this year – she’s graduating! OMG It would sure be neat to get to see her accept diploma.

Paul and I managed to return home, grab a snack, ice a few beers and head for the beach! Finally ...
La Paz, Baja California, Mexico leggesnbaja09... sailor/boater/yachter, whatever you call it. He shared some of his travel stories with us and invited us to Caio Molinda for the Wednesday night jam session. We picked his brain and learned a bit about living on a boat and also, captaining for a living. What a life...
La Paz, Baja California, Mexico leggesnbaja09... week full of diving with many great sites. Though somewhat chillier than most of us expected, the waters were at least quite a bit warmer than what we've been experiencing all winter back in Seattle. The hard corals were amazing to see, and the tropical fish, though nowhere near as abundant as in Indonesia, were still all amazing to see. The one thing I did find though is that they are all incredibly camera shy. It was really tough to get ...
La Paz, Mexico andy12pam03... That is, until we watched the crew toss a current line out and watched the wake it left behind it! The surface current was ripping. Still, we were assured that current at the bottom would be very minimal. We went hand over hand down the line and sure enough, it was just fine at the bottom. On this dive, we were also joined by Jack Titterness. We swam the length of the wreck and then around it before heading back ...
La Paz, Mexico andy12pam03... of year, we decided to motor-sail to get to Balena before it was dark.

The anchorage was pretty desolate except for a kayak group camping on the beach. We anchored in 15 ft (5m) on a sandy bottom in the middle of this whale tail like bay and settled in for our first round of sundowners, some of Lisa’s fantastic cooking, and ...
Los Azabaches, Baja California Sur, Mexico gmanvento... but the countyside off the beaten track that was interesting. There are no buses away from the one main road and if you don't have a car you have to hitch. The scenery was indeed spectacular. Cacti upon cacti as far as the eye could see for hours on end. Uninhabited, hot and dusty. So it was on the move again the following morning this time to Loreto which according to locals had a nice ...
La Paz, Baja California, Mexico bigtrip... heading out for the rest of the day when it was cooler. The school was brilliant, Omar and Cynthia were fantastic teachers and kept the classes interesting and fun. Alanna took to the Spanish very well and even I picked up a bit i.e. I can understand more than I can speak. We both felt that if we had time to stay an additional week we would be able to have proper conversations but unfortunately we don't so we'll get by with Spanglish. On the Friday we left Alicia and ...
