Cosmopolitan Hotel Ixia

We've just returned from a lovely, chilled week at the Cosmopolitan. Our room (509) was great and far more modern than we expected (due to other reviews) Air con is for winners!! The hotel staff were very friendly and the food was great (we didn't eat there every night but could have if we were on a budget) If you don't have a main meal you can have lunch instead which we did a few times. The pool bar entertainment wasn't really our bag and we ventured out every night to the various restaurants and pubs nearby.

Main Likes:-

The breeze (made sunbathing very bearable)

Yanni's bar - what a star....could not do enough!!!

Capri Italian - right next to the hotel, fantastic Italian food but service can be a little slow if busy! But don't let this put you off!

"Klick" Internet Bar - again right next to the hotel, great Cocktails, and the barman is a legend........Thank you Sir!!

Main Dislikes :-

Sun Loungers are in short demand and although there are posters saying they cannot be reserved with a towel, everybody does....so prepare to act like a German if you want a place by the pool!

The hotel lifts can be a little unpredictable at times....who knows what floor you'll end up on....if there actually working!

Annoying Dad by the pool - leave your youngest kid alone, you big bully!!!! :)

All in all, a great week and would recommend it to anyone after a chilled out relaxing time on a beautiful island!

In July I spent a week in this hotel and I really enjoyed it! The food was absolutely delicious and unrepetative, the room (N210) in the main building was convenient and the staff was polite.

The air-condition is free (in Greece usually must pay 6 euros/day for using)

I suggest this hotel chiefly for family with kids (I was with my friend there)

Bad point: although the line is changed every day according to the statement of the hotel, it was just 5 times. Otherwise the cleaning service O.K..

Rhodes city is very near, 6 minutes by bus or taxi (taxi fare: 6 euros, bus fare 1,70 ) The bus stop and the taxi station at the front of the hotel.

The beach is windy and pebbled, isn't able for swimming, but you can enjoy the waves. For small children I suggest the hotel swimming pool instead of it.

The island has a pleasant climate thank to the wind called "meltémi".

Htl di cat. 3 stelle, soprattutto x quanto riguarda le camere, almeno quelle non del corpo centrale.

Cambiano asciugamani e teli ogni giorno.

Si mangia bene, tutto a buffet, piatti internazionali, poco pesce.

Posizione buona anche se sul lato dove c'è sempre vento e il mare è spesso mosso.

Al ristorante e in giro prezzi in generale un pò alti: bottiglia piccola di vino 8,80 euro, un caffè 2,80.

Dipendenti cortesi e disponibili mi è sembrato anche se nn ho avuto particolari richieste.

Per un prezzo pieno da catalogo nn ci verrei , con un 2x1 come ho fatto, un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo.

Wir kommen gerade von einer Woche im Cosmo zurück - die Zimmer sind sehr einfach, wenn man sie mit der Eingangshalle des Hotels vergleicht. Viele ältere Leute und entfernt vom Zentrum Ixias. Aber was ich kann nur sagen, dass Makis an der Poolbar und Mikey fantastische Bartender und noch besseres Unterhalter sind!!! Der Urlaub wurde durch sie zu dem gemacht, was es war und wir haben uns nicht weit entfernt, um sicherzustellen, dass wir um 20 Uhr auf unseren Barhockern waren! und um 1 Uhr morgens wieder herunterzu fallen!

Hoffe, dass Makis im November sehen, wenn er nach England kommt, um Fußball zu sehen!!!

Sobald man in die Lobby läuft, merkt man, dass dies ein klasse Urlaubsplatz ist. Ich war im Anbau mit Seeblick untergebracht (siehe Bild) und das war ok, einfach - Ich würde es nicht mit 4 Sternen bewerten - es war sauber mit Klimaanlage und das Zimmer und die Laken wurden täglich gesäubert. Ich war auf Halbpension hierr, es kommt darauf an, wann man zum Frühstück und Abendessen kommt, aber es gab immer reichlich Auswahl, besonders bei den Nachtischen!

Der Strand ist nur einen Katzensprung entfernt! Rhodosstadt ist die Straße hinauf.

Es gibt einn Geschäft mit freundlichem Personal. Yannis Bar ist nebenan. Das Personal ist die Tüpfelchen auf dem i, besonders Makis & Gregory an der Poolbar und Adam an der Hotelbar, echt klasse. Fahren Sie als Paar hin oder, wenn Sie Kinder haben, wird es denen auch sehr gut gefallen. Ich habe vor innerhalb der nächsten paar Jahre wieder hinzufahren. Man wird nicht enttäuscht.

As soon as you go into the lobby area you realise this is a great place to spend your holiday. I stayed in the annex area with a sea view (see picture) and ok basic - I wouldn't say it was to 4* rating - it was clean, had air conditioning and the room and sheets cleaned daily.

I went for half board, it did depend when you got down for break fast and evening meal, but there was always good variety, the deserts especially!

The staff are the icing on the cake, especially Makis & Gregory in the pool bar and Adam in the hotel bar, brilliant.

Go as a couple or if if you have children, you'll love it, I intend to go back within a few years and won't be dissapointed.

Just returned from a weeks hol at the cosmo - Rooms very basic compared to foyer of hotel lots of older people and away from main ixia.But what can i say about Makis at the Pool bar ad Mikey fantastic bar men and even better entertainers!!! The holiday was made by them so we didnt venture far to make sure we were on our bar stools by 8pm!! and falling off again at !am! hoping to see Makis when he visits England in november to watch the Footie!!!Judy Chris Nick and Judi - Bristol!!!

good clean hotel, food fine,staff excelent, bar staff employee called Mekes just could not do enough for everyone,well done Mekes. location ideal for us,fairly quiet but near to rhodes town to visit if you like the night life.Taxi 6 euros bus1.50 euros. For car hire and Trips I would recomend a small and friendly company called MANOS tours which is not far from the hotel on the main road. the owner is a most friendly and obliging young man, and gives a first class service.

We stayed at the Hotel in September 2004 and 2005, although the rooms are basic, they are kept clean and sheets and towels are changed each day. The food is okay but if you get down at the right time the food is hot. They try to cater for the English but not every day. My son is 17 and a fussy eater but he managed to find something to eat each day. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Yannis bar just below the hotel is brilliant you don't have to go anywhere else. Ixia hasn't changed in 20 years but what a chilled out holiday. It wouldn't do for everyone to like the same thing. We are about to book for the third time. Roll on Cosmopolitan and Rhodes.

Just spent a very pleasant fortnight at the Cosmopolitan, although situated at the far end of Ixia. Nice clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Good buffet selection at breakfast and dinner but can become a bit predictable after a while. Nice clean pool with ample sunbeds and Pool Bar. Inhouse entertainment can be a little lacking. Small selection of shops & bars close to hotel but main Ixia shops a short stroll away. Taxi rank opposite hotel, all destinations clearly priced, eg 6 euros to Rhodes Town. Beach is stoney, so don't bother with a bucket & spade! Overall very nice stay but more suited to adults than families with children.
